I do include some simple animations, but it is too time-consuming to do actual smooth animation, as I do everything myself currently. I'll be looking into getting a good 2d animator though

Not a player, but just chiming in. Yes, you are absolutely correct here. Bad animations are worse than still images. It needs to have speed, energy, and dynamism. And they're an incredible amount of work, so doing them yourself can be a dev trap. Glad to see you're already on the right track here, don't let needy fans persuade you otherwise.Planned!
