What I don't like about Halloween is that most developers spend their production time making side stories, non-canonical, instead of inserting something of the theme into the original story.

I understand that going outside the story allows for something like inserting fantasy creatures into the erotic context, but it's still a bit frustrating when you're engaged and wanting more content from the original story.

True, I feel like there's actually a way to do both within the same game but it sure makes it more finicky from a dev perspective

That would be cool but not feasable in most of the cases. The progression of this games is extremely asyncronous. A game can be in development for like 5 or 6 years but it's story might well span around a few days or a few weeks.

Now, to have an halloween special it must be out across the end of october and the first days of november. If the dev wasn't specific about when the story takes place, he could play like "it was october all along" and put an halloween special in the story (i can think of 2 titles which did so, one has a story that actually takes place in late summer/early autumn and spans for weeks, so...). Otherwise it can not be like a summer story where it suddenly is halloween and the next day is summer again. Best you can do is to put a horror element that is not necessarely connected with halloween, so a dream sequence could be a good refugium peccatorum.

Regarding the Halloween-Special-Controversy:

I am fine with what the dev did. It allows for greater freedom without breaking the story. I am just a bit sad that we got blueballed here. Let the Goblins and the Tauren have "real" fun with Suzie. Would have been so much better.

i cant get past the bugged out after the holiday special.
i have a save right when the you go to the basement and it says "COME TO ME!!"
when i load it, i get the holiday, when i finish that im stuck in this mode where i can jack off on susie while talking about the party. then im stuck where i cant do anything.

But the point is we don't leave the house after some guy and fall into the basement, we just are stuck in the free roam. Hahaha

These issues should now be fixed in build 0.352

Agreed. Unless you go out of your way to make the main story follow the passing of season IRL haha.
