It's not necessarily the mystery story itself. You had enough on your plate before you introduced us to the prisoner. It's a fantasy epic now and not the Scooby-Doo-esque game it was in the beginning. I would write them out if I am being honest. Let the town be the wild card and keep the magic to a minimum. Or do the opposite and go even crazier with every episode. I am not your bossman.
I just think it's good to remember that you can unravel stuff over time, like, not every Update needs a new twist or discovery about the mystery, it can take time to unravel that all, nothing wrong with having a day or two where nothing around that happens and its just the "normal life in the village" :D Just gotta make sure the mystery story doesn't take over everything else.

IMHO it will work if you focus on the main plot and the spicy is something that appens along the ride to lighten the mood. If you focus too much on the sex events it would feel like the protagonists are the first not to take the events seriously, and, i would say, that is not what you want from storytelling. But that considered it doesn't mean that there can't be loads of sex, willing and accidental (see the hobo scene).
Since this is contrary to what I wrote: I don't think this needs to be... you can take it seriously and still be stopped by natural reasons to do anything on certain days ect. Like... just a random example: You would need speak to a certain person, well, as the dev you can just make that that person is away and will only be back in 3 days to talk to *shrug* :D

Yeah writing those out ain't happening.
I've made my bed now I'll lie in it :D
You heard it here first, Suzie starts casting frostbolts next episode. Frostbolt.Frostbolt.Frostbolt.Frostbolt.

That said, listening to good ideas is great, community engagement can be part of the fun. As minor feedback on the current topic, I enjoy games where stories have a thread that's independent of the H elements. Regardless of how "densely" H scenes come up, it's great when a story is engaging, and situations come about sometimes after a build-up, sometimes unexpectedly.
I do enjoy that as well! I find it boring when it's all just about the sex.

It's definitely a balancing act, this.
That's why I mentioned previously that I shot myself in the foot - for not planning out how the two will mesh through to the end.
Each is pulling into its own direction... the sex into the carefree, having fun mood. And the story now, into a sense of urgency. Those two elements definitely clash.
I feel like this is a good problem for me, because each of those aspects are interesting enough for me to want to continue writing & working on them.
But certainly, it would be easier on me if I had anticipated this in the beginning. So now I know, it'd be a good idea to do more preliminary work for the next game :p

Can't you pull back from it with something like "it was just a dream" to keep it on the mystery side than magical fantasy? or is the story to far with it already to do so?

We have faith in you BCG. Speaking for myself, when it comes to AVN's the main story comes in second to the characters and their journey together. I'm more interested in Anon, Suzie and Cee etc and their fun times together than I am in Silas and his whole story.

Yes I agree, the relationships should ultimately edge out on whatever else is going on.

You could always got the ATLA route. The story has a large sense of urgency with defeating the fire lord but gives a large time from to do it (i.e. 9 months) which give the characters time to engage in shenanigans and more carefree adventures

A possible way to mesh the sex angle with the magical mystery stuff might be to have the sex become a way to combat a magical curse, or it becomes a magical curse, maybe a compulsion that they can somewhat control but must still act on? The cool thing with magic is that it can be used in numerous ways to further a plot without needing mundane logic. Although keep in mind, even the most magical of worlds still needs basic logic to function well in the minds of its readers.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

I absolutely love this game and can't wait for more.
