The engine is (the) Godot.
I attempted to make a similar wardrobe project in RenPy a year or so ago, ended up being a clusterf. So, with me starting learning Godot last week with PingPong and Snake utube tutorials I am already much further ahead than where I've ever been with RenPy.
If you switch to Godot (not an advice/imperative, only in case you ever ponder the option) I'll happily donate the Godot wardrobe code and will help integrating. Again, in theory the RenPy wardrobe is easy-peasy, but it turns into a mess real fast (for a peasant like me). Then again, I'll post the code here soon(tm) anyways, so you'll have the snippets even without switching to Godot.
Also, since I am making do by scraping the outfits I can't afford using Krita/Photoshop to extract the images manually. Thus
