I like this! When she's in to him, he's not. And by the time she's got him interested in her, she's found 'love' elsewhere.It's more of the second one, but more desperate because she loves James very much that the thought of him becoming an adult and stopping being close to her makes her sad. So she will do anything to stay close to James. So when James finally gets close to her again, suddenly she's stopped caring about him, which makes James feels betrayed and thus makes the perfect ending!
