If a gun is shown hanging on a wall in the first act, it should be fired in the second act, etc. However, it's not really relevant when it comes to extras in a scene, or even just background elements - only items that are deliberately placed by the creator and not just there to fill a scene.

Note that it's a lot easier to actually give the answer than to leave little hints that just continue to confuse people.
