Thats the basics of the game, but not really a route to beat him. The game seems to depend as you say purely on the luck of the cards and attacks. There is no logic to it at all.... kind of a waste of time really.First of all you must have an updated deck.
Secondly you don't have to use all the turns at once they stack up.
You can choose the start of the battle. Back button (page up button?) to start a new battle.
Choose start of a battle with maximum of 2 damage.
Only use the shield if it's useful otherwise save your turn. Power attack pierces your shield.
If you face 4 strength normal attack then use 4 strength shield.
Use +2 attacks whenever possible and with +1 power attacks when you see fit.
Rest depends on luck, what kind of attacks you will encounter.
