What are they and how to use them?

Extras is omake content - some voice clips, wallpapers, music, and such. Pretty common in big/larger budget Japanese VNs (the kind of stuff that develops big fandoms), not as common in short/low-budget nukige like this, but this one has it for some reason.

JP is presumably the original data files (pre-MTL).

Agreed, a few inpaints and you should something decent. Take it to Photoshop like an actual digital artist and you should very few excuses.

It's the user who allows the end result, I'd argue that as long as you don't try to pass the end result off as 100% "your" art, I'm indifferent.

Yea I think most folks are well beyond "it's stealing!" since folks still pay them for an original piece if their style is truly unique. Plus less ass (or more cuz ya know )

Yeah, this is the real problem. Lazy artists who use AI art, but don't even put effort into it.
But that's the problem with way more than just AI art. Even before AI art, we were flooded by crappy games where the developer obviously was barely even trying. AI art (instead of 3D rendering or real-porn images) just makes it more obvious when the quality level is below pathetic.

Devs who care about quality, and use AI art, put out images that don't have all those glaring problems. You can even get really consistent image generation if you put the time into it.

But, painting with broad strokes, most of the "game devs" who go for AI art are not looking to invest time to create quality. They're just putting together a game because they don't understand how much work making a complete game really is.
