The problem is that the relationship doesn't function for a Non-NTR story. They don't set and hold boundaries or hold people responsible for breaking what few boundaries they do have. That kind of backbone makes a NTR protag entirely unbelievable and that kind of lack of backbone in trope NTR situations leads to the non-NTR branch protag feeling like an NTR protag that just doesn't catch it happening.
I keep hoping the changlog will have author actually fixing this, but nope it just gets harder every time. It's sad because the art is fire.
The core of the problem is that good NTR protags make shitty protags in any other type of story, and non-NTR protags make a shit NTR protag. This creates ripples throughout the story and you end up with something the author can't actually resolve on either end to finish the damn game.

I do think that you blow this out of proportion a bit, the protag in this is fine, he's as spineless as you make him for the most part, and he's not great as a protag in either, but he's servicable, and that's partially just that this dev has a rather shallow writing style as a whole, which is really all most porn enjoyers are looking for, and it works fine for their more sandboxy games, but does wear thin a bit at times in a more linear story like this. Basically, it's a fair criticism, but not a complete failing as you portray it to be.
And in terms of your generalization about the genre and protags for each genre, I'd also partially disagree, a good protag for a non-NTR story can very well work for an NTR story and vice-versa, but that partially depends on what about the NTR is appealing to you, and it does work better with NTS than NTR for such reasons, which works fine for me, as I prefer netorase over netorare anyways, but I know I'm not the majority there
If you choose the options that will lead to the threesome with the stepmom, you will be unable to do it with the other two. The trigger is when Lily hits on Claire (stepmom) and you can either agree with Lily or say it was inappropriate. Say it was inappropriate. Then you need to get points with either Angela or Riley up enough through various choices to get it. That should do it.

If you managed to get all the ntr scenes that is your own fault cuck. It's easier to get vanilla/harem scenes.

One thing that made me give up on this game were these character animations that keep moving when they're talking, I hate that, animations should only be when there are sex scenes and not when the character is talking, this type of animation depends on a lot of RAM and processor, my game closed a few times precisely because of this
4 months and all you guys did was a threesome scene with different variations of characters. This game is just milking your patreon subs at this point.

Our Patreon account generates $2,000 per month, and an animated piece of art costs us $800 (excluding coding, writing, and voicing costs).
Over the last four months, we added 14 pieces of animated art, which cost us over $11,000, and we earned $8,000 through Patreon.
If I am milking my patrons, I think I am doing it wrong
if we count what we earn from Steam & Itch we make roughly $1k/month from My Demonic Romance.
We just hired an additional artist to work on this and their art should start appearing in the game with the next update so we should advance faster (and start losing more money

Maybe animate less and progress the story so it's not just a few scenes every 4 months? We've been on this one chapter since last year i think. I could be wrong.That's idiotic....
