In the bathroom, the ghost gives MC a vision in future: Robin wears a wedding gown...
I hope this may be one of the endings.

cute game. i don’t care if it’s AI. paying a real artist to draw every sprite and background would cost way too much and take forever, indie devs don’t have that luxury. yet some people play the whole thing and still complain about AI images? why waste your time? if you really hated it you wouldn’t even open it.

According to the description a real artist was involved in some way. You're already paying someone or taking the time yourself to fix the AI's mistakes, why not just do it the right way? The game also uses 3D rendered backgrounds with free models surely with the money saved you can afford a real artist? There are countless indie games that are still in development years later, they can take as much time as they need. The developer has a Patreon with thousands of paid members continuing to use AI is just a lazy excuse.

ok i get what you're saying but like, that Patreon with thousands of members? that happened after the game got popular. the dev didn't have that kinda money before. and artists are not cheap.

you say "do it the right way" but what is that? the dev draws it themself? you can see the art has very begginer-like fixes, they are clearly not a pro artist. so would you prefer an artstyle like roblox instead of this?

honestly i'd rather play a game now than wait 2-4 years for a "perfect" version. who knows, ww3 could start and we won't get to play any games lol. using AI just sped up the prosses. and it worked, cuz for the new game they actually hired a real artist to fix the ai images now that they can afford it.

Yeah the Patreon only blew up after the whole Steam thing but still they're not just some small dev anymore they at least have some funds now.

The "right way" would be doing it yourself or hiring someone, doesn't have to be a pro artist, many similar games have weird art styles but are still fine because they put in the effort and the story was good. As an artist I know how hard it is to draw sometimes but the only way to get better is to actually learn and draw on your own. It doesn't have to be perfect and AI in most cases actually slows you down trying to fix it or get it to do the right thing. And that can be proven just by looking at all the unfinished games this developer has.

But why continue to use AI? They have money now and hired a real artist. They can go back and replace the AI art if they wanted to (which isn't required) but for some reason they doubled down and continued to use AI for their new games. It doesn't make sense.

I didn't even download it yet, but I think am going to enjoy it, he is so cute. Also I saw the AI cg, so i thought there would be inconsistency, but each art seems consistent from the preview images, green flag.
this is the game that got me to realize that maybe not all ai is total low quality garbage

I think there is an overly negative dogma around generative AI. It's one thing for someone to use GenAI to create images and then call it "their art", and I completely understand why people would be annoyed by this, especially if the 'artist' is charging for it.

However, the usage of generative AI in game development is clearly different. There are many cases, particularly in the world of NSFW games, where a programmer wants to develop a game and has the technical ability to built it, but does not have the creative skills to produce the art themselves. The developer has two options: bring in a dedicated artist (expensive), or use generative AI (quick and cheap).

Obviously, the best option is to pay for a professional artist, but that is a big cost commitment for small project and could result in the game actually losing money overall. The real work behind the game is the coding, so the developer naturally focuses on that to get the project finished.

As long as the AI-generated art is not terrible, and the game mechanics are good, I think this is a perfectly reasonable strategy, and it should not be immediately dismissed by porn gamers.
