The last time i played this (maybe Feb-ish this year?) - it turned out that the pics Ota was sending to the MC were all of Akemi (who I think was confirmed to not be Mio in disguise) and not Mio? I have hope that the author will pull it back together, but the last update definitely was horrible on every level. The Akemi route devoting it's entire runtime to off-camera sex between Mio and MC was a COMPLETE waste of time. Who possibly is here for that? Then out of nowhere that ending that either makes zero sense, or is "just a dream/fantasy," which is actually too lame to imagine- yet there's plenty of precedent of exactly that.

The cuck route is way worse though. It had such a good trajectory and tension, and all of that was completely deflated. Everything they could have possibly done wrong, they did. They completely destroyed the building tension and consequences, reset everything back to neutral, and now they're introducing a minor 'kink' as the new trajectory. Literally everything from Mio sexually falling to Ota, to the readers assumption that more was happening offscreen, to MC's acceptance of Ota's dominant attitude about Mio- all just completely unmade. Now somehow we're back to square 1 where Mio and MC reagree about never breaking the rules, how they are completely stable in their relationship, and the only reason that anything is happening at all is in service of MC's kink. What a total boner kill of a plot.

Yeah, the more I look at it, the more I think the author should just scrap the update, redo it, and call it a day. It's normal to have missteps with such a long development, and even more when dev is determined to update every two weeks no matter what.

Akemi route is at a point where it makes no sense at all how Mio's behaving, and as you said, the cuck route has lost all traction and magically returned to point zero. After all the buildup, the moment of the bass drop, when the conflict should have erupted full force, suddenly dissolves into nothing and everybody decides to go back to the first status quo.

I feel they wanted to end the update with a shock, and they stepped on the thrust for the Akemi route, and felt the cuck route was going too fast and decided to roll everything back to the beginning so it could last longer, but man, there is no need for it. The game is good, the writing is good. Story has a pace, follow it and wherever you get at the two week mark is ok. Better to end the story and go on to write a new one after having a successful first game than to milk this one and leave it half assed and people pissed.

Yes. Ota does a lot of shit like that trying to mislead the MC. In newer updates he's done the same thing to make MC think Mio let him hit raw

Hence, my hope Viviny gives at least one path (if not all paths) a more genuine and realistic ending. Rarely IRL do all the people in a NTR or Netori situation end with a "Happily Ever After" ... not that gooners would feel satisfied with that. So every relationship on some of the paths imploding would be more genuine and compelling.

There's a chance an NTS relationship (like hotwifing) might work out ... so long as there more anonymous or rotating bulls ... and not a steady one like Ota.

You're absolutely right. It is just a game. But does every branch need a favorable ending that will please the player? It's not like the creator is trying to teach a lesson, he's telling a story.

Personally, I think too many games have happy endings of some variety. I recently picked up my copy of the game Horses and I'm looking forward to playing it. It's not a happy game and it's not a happy ending. But it's still a compelling story nonetheless.

IMHO it would be nice if Viviny had at least one real or compelling ending to one of the branches. But I'm just some bloke on the internet so My opinion doesn't really matter to him or anyone else for that matter. I'm just throwing some spaghetti at the wall for Viviny to consider.

They've already given us some compelling conversations and engagements here on F95 as people were really getting into Mio's perspective inside of the story. And that journey made the game engaging. Kudos for that.

But like I said in the previous post, coming up with an appropriate ending to an engaging story is a challenge.

These particular kinds of games with multi-paths are really multiple/layered short stories. And it is well known, the shorter the story, the tougher it is to write an engaging, world building piece that draws the reader (or player) into it with a believable or reasonable exit point.

I'm looking forward to see how he ends this game, hopefully this next year. And given the community's level of engagement, I'm looking forward to his next project if he chooses to do one.
