I bet most of their revenue comes from SubscribeStar, so the slower updates are just an excuse, the game being on Steam didn't make that much of a difference.

If nothing else, the game being on Steam help advertise them and pull in more supporters.
For example, I don't really purchase adult games on Steam, but since I enabled adult content to be viewed, a lot of games on this forum does show up on the front page if you scroll down. Losing that definitely hurt.
Even if Steam only contribute 10% of the revenue, it would still mean the pace is reduced by that amount.

This is particularly off-putting when Helen's goes from being in her underwear to suddenly having all her clothes back on for the re-used BJ scene despite no mention of her putting on more clothing in the text. Doesn't bode well that this update took that long and only had *some* new art.

Yes, the update took two months. It includes one fully drawn sex scene (10 illustrations) and one where I had to reuse art for the first time (actually less illustrations, so it's not "most" as you say). Otherwise it would have been delayed even longer. I write and code, but the art comes from freelancers, and their delays are unpredictable. I’ve already changed artists twice with the same result. If I’d released only the first scene, you’d say two months for a single scene "doesn't bode well" either, so I didn't have much of a choice.Why is the hot mom always the final girl

The reused scene was fully written before the art issue; the difference would have been minor (slap vs hair pull). If it weren’t for the art bottleneck, the game would have been finished two years ago. That’s the reality of working with freelance artists: they’re slow, unpredictable with delays, and the project survives only because I keep pushing through.
P.S. That's why I write novels now, no constraints, no delays, no dependencies and much more fun. Might do a purely text game too one day.

The game is no longer on Steam. Anyone who didn't buy it is out of luck, and I don't think there will be any updates for the second chapter either.
Steam banned the game permanently. The second chapter was about to be released, but both were banned, since activists forced them to take all incest games down. The game is actually available for free to download here and in Discord and always was. But yeah, they won't let me update or upload the game on Steam or itch or Patreon, since it's both incest and non-con, which is against MasterCard policy.

I enthusiastically enjoy the renders and gameplay, but man the mind control domination narrative is an absolute turn off... I wish there was another route implemented for those with slow burn/natural romantic development preference than someone's else r**ist fantasy.
Honestly, in this case you are better off playing some other game, since it is mind-control fetish driven game. I recommend anything by Eva Kiss. Strong story, also drawn art, no non-con.

Why even try out the game in the first place? It doesn't hide what it is about. You have a plethora of games to pick from, more than you can possible play and then you go and chose something that isn't your kink. Odd.
This is the ONLY Renpy game I've ever downloaded that apparently has an issue with Win 7, so I'm guessing some flag got set while coding this latest update - the previous version 0.25 ran fine with no issues or bugs.
I'm hoping one of our resident Renpy experts might have some insight to offer . . .
The usual reasons: Fell in love with a particular character from the Preview scenes, completely ignored the game tags, then felt compelled to complain that "the story" ruined their self-inserted immersion fantasy.

All I can tell you is that it runs fine on a 2018 (intel) Mac.
The relevant info is that a Win 7 PC / 2070oc video / 32 GB RAM in daily use with almost 1 Tb of AAA title games and over 50 Renpy VN's runs the previous version just fine - but attempting to open this update gets a "Version not supported - This program requires Windows 10 or greater to run" pop up.How? You've given zero info.

And for reference, the most recent update for "Space Journey X" v2.20 is also working just fine, and I'm willing to bet it represents a significantly greater coding effort than this particular game, while demonstrating that it's not just a Renpy issue.
Not sure how it can possibly happen that this particular game can be running in any other way than other RenPy compiled games. There is absolutely no additional scripts or plugins. It's a basic RenPy compile. You are correct, there is no sophisticated coding here. But also there is no modifications or customizations that could trigger any incompatibilities. Perhaps because I used the most recent update of RenPy to compile, that is just went out a couple of days ago?

No. It was around 50/50. And it is not the revenue so much (that too partially, cause most of it goes to buying art), it's dealing with freelancers being slow with producing art and me waiting. Changing an artist didn't help with that. If it was text and code alone the game would be finished years ago. Alas, I can not draw. Also I didn't grasp your logic, "slower updates are just an excuse" for what sorry? Game has been updating every two months for a long time (including this one), now I said the updates will be sporadic, sometimes faster, sometimes slower, cause it depends on both how freelancers meet deadlines and enough money being there to break even for art. The rest are your assumptions, also known as hallucinations. And I love how you called barely 200 usd a month REVENUE
The fact that I've squeezed 400 usd into 10 hand drawn illustrations is a miracle actually, ask any game dev, or just go to deviantart and shop around.
Some people on f95zone act and talk as if they have bought the game from some EA size studio, not downloaded the game for free from a single dev making it in their free time, which is 99% of games here.
