RPGM - My New Life: Revamp [v0.97] [Beggar of Net]

I love how its much simpler and straight forward than the last one. I believe theres little to no chance to miss out on good content in this one. In the og version you could miss out on good stuff and even lose a main girl if you took a right instead of a left or did missions in a different order. Without that huge ass walkthrough and a cheating mod you were pretty much fucked.

i have played the original version two years ago. it was rich in content and had the right tone to it as far as adult games are concerned, but was buggy and the going from place to place grind was a pain. after getting stuck there, it seems the dev made a good decision and decided to make the revamped version easier to play. i have finished this version without getting stuck at any point (no easy feat considering this is in alpha stage). the game froze a few times but it was no biggie, as you are prompted to save every day. the hints system is not perfect yet, but it works well enough. graphics-wise the game looks simple at first, but you do get used to it and the animations are well done, the sex eventually finishing with ahegao, of which i'm a big fan. transportation is much easier now thanks to bus stations everywhere. most quests were fun to go through and you get your exploration fill, which is an integral part of rpgm games, thanks at least to the magazine finding quest towards the end. all in all, a very good game already, that kept me busy and entertained for four evenings.

Great graphics, mostly smooth animation, interesting story, and plenty of sex to go around. It's just an awesome game overall. I personally think it's better than the previous version of the game in many ways.

    Based on v0.001.8.
Played with cheats on money so might be grindier experience without this cheat.

Probably one of my favorite game made with RPGM but has all the problem of a game made with RPGM (Time spent just walking with no added value/Saving system not optimal (not as good as Renpy for example)/No rollback/...)

    Pros:
Decent amount of Content (that hit my kinks so YMMV)
All around better than previous iteration while keeping what I found enjoyable in.
Mini map is pretty useful, Hints worked mostly well (sometime confusing or wrong but corrected itself most of the time if you slept a night).

Meh (as in not horrible but could be improved upon):

Navigation on computer isn't really snappy could use a rework (instant click + navigation from icon to icon with the keyboard) don't know how much time it would take so can't tell if it's really worth it tho.
    Travel could be improved imo:
    - A 5$ taxi system accessed with smartphone to directly get to a place/house could be nice.
-A quick travel to school sound kinda necessary IMO (those minutes add up with no real added value for the player IMO).

    Cons:
*Not a fan of RPGM games in general so some of the problem might be general issue rather than specific to the game.*
The game is a fucking time-sink, everything takes more time than it should for no real reason beside the game engine.
It can't be really played in short burst (IMO) since you would need to remember what you were doing where you need to go and what you were doing and the fact that every action takes fucking forever.
Video that can't be muted even though you muted sound in settings :/
The first screen with all the dancing ladies is super laggy on my comp for some reason.
*Edit:* Too many action in the 15-20h timeslot compared to the rest might want to put every action possible in an excel sheet and see if there are cluster of actions at some spaces and move some around (unless it's by design but I don't think it's a good design to have to skip some timeslot everytime because there is nothing to do).

    Conclusion:
Objectively a 3* (IMO) but a 4* in my heart.
If you want to play a pseudo shota wandering (aimelessly) around town banging everything he sees this game is for you.

I actually like RPGM games better than Renpy ones and Ive already played MY NEW LIFE. can't say I'm not disappointed it was't finished but I'm willing to give it a try to the new version. I think it's understandable that the DEV wanted to start over, he tried to cover too much stuff and he kept adding more and more and not finishing any or finishing some stuff too soon. I hope this time he will use what he made in the first attempt and just polish it rather then trying to put more stuff into it and finally complete the game.

This is a terrible reboot of this game. You spend countless time walking here and walking there. This has become a VN with hours of walking and grinding. The grinding is worse because it is compounded by pointless walking. The story seems a bit better but the do one thing and only one thing ruins what was good about the game before the reboot. This was the only game that I would replay. Now I have deleted all of my new revamp copies. I do not see any reason to continue it is that bad now. Tooo much pointless walking.

People are just bitching about his game left right center; not reading that the game is still in alpha.. give some time to the dev; the scenes are being reworked; also new jobs are being added; the game is more linear now; the renders are great and yes bugs exist but the game is in alpha.. please read the same before ranting

this game have too many mistakes....
It's a pity since he has very good illustrations and he looks very entertaining despite it.
It could improve a lot by eliminating some things like the city map and adding others such as stories with classmates and their mothers, school teachers and weekend jobs.
Lo mejor que tiene es las ilustraciones de las mujeres voluptuosas y curvosas con grandes senos.
Y enormes caderas....lo peor es la cantidad de errores que se van sucediendo en todo el juego.

i think the revamp works better than the old game just not enough content yet... played the revamp at version 0.01_3 alot of things look better and the game runs better than the old game...most of the story didn't change like I throught it would .... what content i could play was very good...

bunch of bugs, less scenes, the story is terrible pacing and rushed. was told less grinding but seems its just as tedious as before in a different way. with the new update the family is not as involved. the main draw to this game was the scenes but instead the developer reworked sprites, maps and mechanics that most didnt have a problem with.

I enjoyed the old version though it was a touch grindy.

I find this version and its extremely linear play annoying. Might as well make it a graphic novel.

Getting anywhere sucks... period. The map view is far too small.

The added graphics are fun though there are some artifacts and clothing displacements in them. I actually enjoy the intro dancing screen. It's rough, but suggestive enough to fire up my imagination.

I am going to put it aside for a while and see if it improves after a couple updates.

    Unknown Developer

I have seen so many people hating this revamp, I think many of them just liked the older version structure more than this linear one we have now, others seems like they wanted BON to change the engine to renpy, which would take away most of the gameplay, require him to learn an entire new language and become less dinamic (I will never understand why some people prefer renpy to RPG Maker), but allow highter resolutions and removing the walking around.

Now my opinion. I played the original version much time ago, and I liked the structure of you going around each girl with her own chain of events and quests which allow you to chase many at the same time. But for what I read in the Patreon Page, this was a big programation mess, which caused many bugs which made him make this revamp. I admit that the more freedom you give to the player the more possibilities you give him to break the game, so a complete free world with many chain of events that intercept themselves (since their quests don't isolate other characters) could easily spiral into an unsolvable mess if not well thinked and visualized. There should be many times you need to stop teh player from progressing something because another thing didn't happen yet and the game is still waiting for it.

So yes, I understand why BON did this. And I agree with the ones who didn't like it. It is possible to do what he set himself to do at the previous version, it's just hard to pull it out. Maybe a little less freedom, but not almost complete linearity of chain of quests that have nothing to do with each other.

About the story, there are some changes, it is darker since the begining, I'm not sure what was the best. I will jsut say that the story is too MC centered. You should be able to see interactions of the characters without the MC and things happening not being caused by MC, right now, we only have the consipiracy, and that's all. What about the events? The dick competition? the things outside MC's control?

The scenes no one is talking about because they are comapring them to the previous version, and nnot by themselves. I think the pallet is a little too dark, and BON could increase the FPS of those scenes. Yes it's better than many you have out there, but for scenes based only on animations and ramdom moans with no text, no hot descriptions or anything else really, BON should try to get at least a 15 FPS in those scenes, I think they are more or less 6 or 7 FPS, maybe a little more, but still far from enough to fool my eye.

Conclusion. Has potential, but the structure is still not enough for the size of the game, the scenes need more frames and characters need to stop depending on the MC for everything, they need more interactions with each other. Maybe in time things can become better, let's see.

EDIT: I began to replay the version 2.1 to take a look and compare, and I must say, my memory betrayed me.

That game was bugged. For you to have an idea the walkthrough said for you don't start any quest until you finish Maria, Rachel, Dad and Sarah. And the only reason I can think for it in a game open world like this, is that if a used character isn't in their initial state, it can break an event they are part of. The walkthrough even warn you about big bugs you will meet along the way.

The game was also very inconsistent, it has some scenes with a still image or two and text (very small, really), others only have animations and SE, and some of the animations have only 3 FPS. No wonder he wanted to make a revamp. I still think that if you want to make animations only, aim for at least 15 FPS.

The story, I will remind you this is totally an opinion and might have spoilers, is a little bad. I must say I don't like the idea of you working for the mobs, and there you can even choose which mob you want to work for. Dad if love his children so much should keep them away from the cops and bullets of rivals. I didn't watch Godfather, but I am pretty sure if a mobster can get out and staying rich and becoming clean he will. No one want to live his entire life being hunted by cops and mob rivals. I also must agree with BON that you can't really keep that kind of personality hidden from his family for too long. A joke and the man almost killed a woman, talking about respect. That means he is very agressive, hard to keep this hidden for long. He also don't have much love for his daughter, and have some kind of problem with women in general, not the kind of guy who actually want kids in my humble opinion. So he was inconsistent. Even if the player only met him now, his entire life he lived with his children, it's too long to keep a mask. So I agree with the change now. I also noticed that he didn't took you to warren when you uncovered about him, which might mean you won't be forced to be envolved with the mob if you don't want to. I apreciate that. For this improvement of the story, I will change the rating to 4 stars instead of 3.

    Taak

I can't give this "Revamp" anything more than 1/5 and there are several reasons for it.

First issue is with the story, you get a long introduction of the character(s) and right at the very begging MC ends up losing his v-card with a climax... But why? Wouldn't it be much more enjoyable to achieve it by playing and making choices as a player. After all this game is made in RPGM.

Speaking of RPGM, it is a second issue that I had with this game. The amount of interactions (lack of) that are available to the player, linearity of the story and the lack of RPG elements in design makes it frustrating and you end up asking yourself why was RPGM chosen as an engine for this game. You will spend enormous amounts of time just traveling from point A to point B. It doesn't feel rewarding and on the contrary it feels like a bad MMO game with lots of fetch quests.

Another issue that I had was UI. There is lack of it but at the same time there is too much of it (Phone item). When you use phone item you see a lot of icons but you can't interact with most of them. Most frustrating icon is the map icon, which just there and no matter how hard you will click on it it won't show you a map of the world. While those that are there and intractable are really hard to notice.

To conclude. The game is really suffering from being made in RPGM due to the lack of a gameplay that is required. It would have worked better in Ren'Py. Story is... It just exists on its own, it is extremely linear, and it doesn't involve player into itself. It really feels like Telltale walking simulators but without "___ will remember that" because you, as a player, just aren't given choices to make. And, of course, the UI. No map. Hard to navigate in the "phone item", no way to skip videos or increase speed of videos that are playing during sex scenes.

This is a great revamp of the original. Less grinding, better graphics and animations (Quite a few) and the story is more fluid. Has a built in hint system already and a good bit of content for an Alpha..

A lot of potential on this new Version of the game, and ealisy one of the best devs in terms of content. This REVAMP pretty much, makes almost all the graphics looks way better. Hope we can get to where the older one was.

Loved the old game and was really looking forward to the revamp as the changes in art are on point, Love the art. The game play otoh is fucked... straight fucked. Inside building navigation is fine but the Street-View perspective is fucked. It's like looking at the map through a straw with no larger world view. Your first task after a painfully looooonnggg and annoying 5day intro is to find school ... Ok, lets go to school. Then you walk out the door and run around for 10 min with that closeup streetview and no map _ Fuggetaboutit. Instead of wasting time finding school I'd rather play something else.

An impossible game to complete, because:
-If you have bad luck, your mistake saved.
-Lineal and 80% of the time spent on the game, will only walk from one map to another.
-Some missions will ask you a lot of money to complete them, and the only way to achieve it is after completing the mission of the jet, but if you progress a lot in the game, it will no longer be available, that makes completing the mission impossible.
    Conclusion:
The developer created another version, simply so you have to invest 20 hours of walking, so that at some point your saved error, and lose all your progress again.

i see people bashing the revamp, but still i prefer this 1000 times than to grind like hell in the old version, searching for walkthroughs, getting stuck because i skipped a mission... or any mission to be honest... since i already play this game from the start dozens of times "saves got bugged, had to start from the beggining for a update..."

it may be kind of linear, but i prefer it that way, love the new sex mechanics, love the new story, it may not have all the scenes from the previous game, but i don¿t mind, i can watch it anytime by playing the old one

at the long run this revamp will be good, looking forward for a better story line that the other kind of fail to give "that eventually, you''ll get it by the second or third playthrough", so far i'm impressed, loving the story, and i'm pretty sure beggar is taking all the feedback he can to make it better, hell that's why he made the revamp...

it's probably not the popular opinion, but i've seen this game grow, and i'll look forward to whatever beggar and the community of course throws

    Alfred the Fallen

It's a linear game set in an big RPG maker world. Which, of course, means that it is a massive time vampire that will suck away the hours as you are forced to run across maps doing annoying delivery quests and other mundane tasks. For example, the game makes you fetch fifteen collectable playing cards for one character as part of her quest. You get them from fetching packages for another character, and you must retrieve and deliver both the packages and the cards one at at time. Having to do that three times would be fine, five would be a bit much, but fifteen fucking times is goddamn ridiculous.

The game finally has a scene replay and a hints section, but it still lacks a map so navigating around is awful for first time players. The game just isn't good at the moment. I've played it for four hours and still haven't unlocked any story content for my favourite characters. It's just been one tedious chore after another because the game is now much more linear than before.

The story was rather poor before the revamp, and now it's even worse. There is a much bigger focus on humiliating the main character in the opening stages of the game, and some characters have been completely rewritten and are far less likeable than before. Your house is now much further away from all the early quest areas, so the game is even more tedious than it used to be. So the revamp needs a rewrite, the remade quests need to be redone, and the relocated house should be put back to where it was. The revamp also manages to create some brand new game breaking bugs, so it's a bit of an all-round clusterfuck of design choices.

TL;DR: Unfortunately, this Revamp is horrible in every possible way and a massive downgrade. I don't have a single positive thing to say about it, sadly. Especially as a long time supporter of his old work.

    Story

The dev changed a lot. While the old game had a story with which you could build from, the new one is extremely cut out and you basically have a big question mark (as a new player) in pretty much every big event. Aside from that, he implemented new scenes where the MC has just plain stupid lines. It firstly doesn't match up with the old text and secondly, it's just plain stupid. You get kinda the feeling that he lost his brain somewhere.

    Gameplay

The dev's intentions was to reduce a huge chunk of the grind however, he basically removed every good part of the gameplay. It's not a open world game any more, where you had a feeling to go around, interact and play the way you want. Instead, he made it extremely linear and you can't even talk to the NPC's any more, unless you've unlocked a particular event for them. The sex scenes also changed a lot especially the fact, that the females get an orgasm in every few seconds, which gets extremely annoying especially if you read my review further down below.

    Sound

This is the worst part. I'm not sure what the dev was thinking, but he put "real life porn sounds" into the game. Aside from just being awful low quality sounds cutted out from various porn vids, they mix up with the japanese sounds and it makes every scene a nightmare. Other than that, It simply doesn't fit in the game and the most annoying part of this is, you hear those awfully annoying sounds every time they get an orgasm... if you remember, I said they get a orgasm every few seconds, so you basically hear those noisy sounds again and again until you get a headache.

    Conclusion

In the old version, you could build a connection to each character kinda while following the storytelling. In the new one you don't have anything like that and the game simply forces you to rush into the sex scenes as quickly as possible. I'm not sure what the dev was thinking honestly but he made a huge mistake with this revamp in my opinion.
