3. Prefixes
  1. On-hold: used for a developer who temporarily stops working on a game for whatever reason and makes a clear public statement about it, if they do not resume work in 6 months the prefix is changed to Abandoned.
  2. Abandoned: used in the following cases:
    • The developer states that the development has been permanently suspended.
    • After 3 months of inactivity from the developer's public creator/crowdfunding accounts (Patreon, SS, etc), we will resolve special circumstances or scenarios on a case-by-case basis (no creator accounts, creators developing for free, Patreon accounts under review/ban).
    • No game update has been released for an abnormally long period of time (>18 months).
    • Game threads that are marked On-hold for over 6 months with no game update.
    • Note: this prefix is only removed upon the release of a new update for purchase/download.
  3. Complete: when a game is released in its full version as stated by the developer. Note that complete games might still receive patches and post-release content.

Though I always assumed special circumstances or case-by-case solution applied to all criterias, not just 3 months rule. Suppose not. Also, if the rules are going to be followed. It does not say here you cannot put on-hold tag right before 18th months, iirc it got the tag at the time. then according to the 3.1, it will only get abandoned tag after 6 months with no update.
So, it seems unfair according to the rules.

Yep! Exactly why I said they don't understand their own rules.

All of this drama could be easily avoided, if the mods were bit more competent. Now, they gonna nuke this thread and pretend like nothing happened...
They never nuke game threads as long they aren't r7 they will just nuke all this OT here and if it continues just lock the thread

Only one of those needs to happen for the Abandoned tag to apply.
For example(it's not the case here): A game went 12 months with no content updates but the developer provided regular updates on patreon about the development, but all of a sudden they can't work on the game for some time, so they let people know that the game is not being worked on and it gets the on hold tag. The on hold tag can stay up to 6 months, but if the developer completely disappears after announcing that the game is on hold, after 3 months of no communication, the on hold tag is replaced with the abandoned tag.

Now lets say a game got an on hold tag after going 15 months with no updates, in this case, even if the developer is still active and communicating, the game will get the abandoned tag in 3 months because of the 18> months rule.

My goodness, can everyone just simmer down please? It's obvious that there needs to be some space and quiet between the sides here. Neither side is going to budge, and only continue speaking and deriding one another. So everyone just stop it. Killer7 those that know the situation will always understand, and those that don't won't. It's been this way awhile and will continue until your situation improves.
Lerd0 please just stop. You should know better considering how long you've been here for. You've said your piece, and now you've just aggravating others.

And everyone that's participating in this snide back and forth: grow up or suck my dick
Are you a cute trans girl or a cute femboy? If so, I choose the latter, no problem. :giggle:

Pretty sure it's supposed to be both criteria. But hey, if some people say "and" and some say "or", I guess that just goes to show how inconsistent the application of it is and this is just another example of it.
The rules said:
Abandoned: used in the following cases:
  • The developer states that the development has been permanently suspended.
  • After 3 months of inactivity from the developer's public creator/crowdfunding accounts (Patreon, SS, etc), we will resolve special circumstances or scenarios on a case-by-case basis (no creator accounts, creators developing for free, Patreon accounts under review/ban).
  • No game update has been released for an abnormally long period of time (>18 months).
  • Game threads that are marked On-hold for over 6 months with no game update.
  • Note: this prefix is only removed upon
So I figure it's on any of those cases, but yeah, the rules are kinda confusing.

No offense but why would the ban us peasants? Just look at all those topic in OT etc they are still there some just locked. Comedy gold mines are there fr
like half a year ago they'd be ready to remove any o.t. at a moments notice but they just kinda stopped doing that..is it even still in the rules?..
if they can spend time putting on the tag multiple times then surely they'd have time to enforce the more obvious rules as well.

don't get me wrong i like the o.t. breaks whilst waiting for updates, the inconsistent application off the rules just makes me have no respect for the mods

What I meant was that they delete all the messages about mods ignoring rules parts and other drama, because of OT and wouldn't even try to do something about those mods or rules. Bad wording from me.
