Guys.

It's none of our business what he does with the money supporters give him.

It's none of our business whether he hires people to work on certain parts of MPP for him, or insists on doing everything himself.

It's none of our business why it takes so long to create new chapters. He does keep us informed of his progress.

The only thing that *is* our business in the creation of MPP is whether to support him. No one can make that decision on your behalf.

If you're satisfied with the return on what you've given him, cool. If not, stop supporting him.

Is there a compressed version? I can't find it going back through the pages or by searching "compressed" in the thread

The issue with this game is that it literally did not need to be a renpy VN. Cyan could just release his porn art in image/comic form like literally every other artist ever and it'd be fine, nobody would bitch, and shit it would release much quicker. Like Fred Perry.

But because it's a """game""", suddenly it costs 15k+ monthly to put them into renpy?

It just doesn't make any sense. The game does not offer anything other than its art, no real story, no real branching choices, nothing.

Nevertheless, it is much more pleasant to play the game than to look at pictures or read comics. It feels completely different, in the game you have at least some choice and feel like a part of the world

I'm not invested enough in the game yet to care about development time that much, but people saying "He's artist first game dev second" are actually morons... yes the art is amazing but if he does indeed make 17k a month, he can afford to hire someone to code for him.

In the end, this IS a game, not just drawings. It's pretty damn simple. And I don't see how anyone can protest that?

Well, most of the "standard" VNs written in Renpy do not require a dedicated coder, since the coding part is simple enough to be dealt with by the artist himself. Adding another person to such a project would simply overcomplicate things, adding need to coordinate and negotiate control, and reducing the chance to apply unplanned changes on the fly, for not much of a benefit either in development time or quality (a.k.a. "nine women will not give birth to a child in a month"). I'm willing to bet hiring a developer in such a case would only save some weeks time to a release - not much in the grand scheme of things, and not enough to justify having another people on a semi-permanent payroll.
Also, the author's Patreon existed well before the game. His first posts are dated 2015. As such, back then people were already financing CyanCapsule for his art (pictures and comics) - in fact many of the characters in game take inspiration from his previous efforts (Emelie herself existed before the game).
With this perspective and context, CyanCapsule is not being paid for the game alone. He's still being paid for being CyanCapsule, and producing his niche art, in the form of a game or whatever else. That's the Patreon approach, and the usual is true: there is no contract, and very few obligations. One can not agree with it, and he's well in his rights not to finance an artist which he finds too slow - but that's all there is to it. The alternative is simply not having his amazing art - certainly not under the same conditions.

This is exactly what Cyan already did before coupling his art into a ren'py game. He made 3 k a month when he only released art, it bumped up to 13 k within a year of making a game and is 17 k now.

The "game aspect" of the title is incredibly cursory- but I guess there is something to it based on the numbers.
