I have used the tutorial and I only keep getting errors, one is a game.dat error and the other is this

Few questions to start with:
- What is the "game.dat" error - is there a log with some info or just a generic "problem with file game.dat"?
- Are you running it on Windows or Linux?
- If Windows, is your antivirus modifying any of the files (game or MTool) in any way?
- Do you have write access to the location game is in?
- Are you launching MTool using the "Tool.bat" file? If so, could you try going into the Tool folder and launching "nw.exe" instead?

This is the error in question for Game.dat, when I try to launch the game without Mtool and using japanese locale admin it works with no issue.
I'm running it on Windows 11.
I do have write access and Mtool seems to work for multiple other games which I've downloaded for testing.
I'll try the nw.exe

I tried both and got the same pop-up error, tried the first link first, then the second, as for the DLC I put it in the same folder as the other .wolf files.
In the Nightmare in the Art Room quest, where can I find the camera, and what do I need to eat to make my taste buds smell bad?

How big is your "BasicData.wolf" file? Maybe it got corrupted somehow. Can't think of anything the moment, sorry. I'll be sure to ping you if something comes to mind.
I have a guide for part 1 chapters in this post. Should be straightforward enough but feel free to let me know if something isn't clear.
This is how the entire Data folder looks, I just downloaded and extracted the game again.

That's 2.03, right? I still have this version as a backup so here's how it looks for me:
Seems to be close enough, plus you did mention game working fine without MTool so it was a long shot anyway. I'm honestly out of ideas for now.
Baroth got it right, turns out the dots in the folder name were causing the issue all along, btw do I need to use Mtool each time or do I just use the Mtool_game.exe?

Huh, interesting. They didn't cause an issue for me. Maybe they aren't "dots" but Japanese characters? I'm using JP system settings on Windows so that could explain why it works for me. Either way I'm glad it works.
You can use either one. "Mtool_game" should launch both the game and MTool anyway so just go with whichever works. It doesn't always work for me for example (sometimes it launches game first and MTrool doesn't recognise it happened after booting up later) but that's what it's for.
Probably the regional system settings, it's what usually messes up folder names and text files when extracting games and all.

Dev's still releasing some content. Dazed said he would start on a translation once there are no more updates. I'm assuming we'll wait until late January/February.
