There's a manga whose name I can't remember with this premise the guy dresses up and pretends to be somebody else and seduces his wife into "cheating" on her husband only for the end to reveal she knew it was him the whole time

This is a tough question to answer.

The vm makes a whole new operating system install separate from the main one. The vm also takes some resources (ram, cpu power) from the main host to run things unless you have full hardware pass-through. The good thing with vm's like virtual box is that you can install a fresh os and back it up as a base line for testing out things and easily revert changes back to the base.

Sandboxie (with proper configuration) creates a hardened environment to run applications already on the system.

The vm offers more separation from the main system. It should be safer but will come with a performance cost.

Remember all programs you use should be updated regularly to mitigate known security risks. That said, zero day vulnerabilities do happen so there is no such thing as total security. Just best practices. If a human can make it, a human can unmake it as well.

It is hard to find a wife willing to do what you want in real life.

About the game it's a Shame the voice was in Chinese, i was hoping for Japanese VA instead.
