Weekly Update - April 28th, 2023

What????!!!!!!
No cliffhanger at the end of chapter 4?!
I leave the boat!
:)

I just can say I think you take 2 right decisions.
Doing the non adult version of the game after completed the adult one will give you less work to do. Maybe you will lost a bit of money, but I don't think that it would be worth it the risk of being buried under the work.
And I agree with the "if ain't broken, don't fix" it approach. Like you I saw to much dev going down the "spiral of hell" of remaking things that no body else feel it's needed to be redone.

Finally, I'm glad you have some good times with Morgana.
And I love your sens of humor about buying each other a can of soda to celebrate your tin/aluminum anniversary. :)

I am glad you had a good time. A friend of mine surprised his wife with roses for their tenth anniversary. (We call it a rose wedding.) So he threw roses on their bed and they dove in. Unfortunately, he forgot to pick the thorns. It was a memorable anniversary...

“it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

(nods)

No cliffhanger?! Hah! Rebel!

I love how Mara seems to be game for anything.
It's basically how I RPed myself into a hookup with her. I was like "Yeah, I'd probably be flirtatious with her here, but more as a joke than anything", and then she totally rolls with it and then I'm like "Yeah, okay, this is definitely happening then."

Of course, my Ky is weak-willed in general. I feel like on some level she's trying to be monogamous/loyal to Tara, but she keeps getting kind of guilt-tripped into pity sex with ancient gods or because fairies tell her it's for a magic ritual. What's a girl to do?

One of a kind tbh. A harem game that lets you choose to be female? Not many of those at all, but I love it! Can't wait for more!
I'm usually just happy to find female protagonist games where the gameplay doesn't revolve around watching the main character get abused or corrupted or otherwise wind up as the town's official semen storage receptacle.

It's always awesome to find a game where the female lead is actually proactive and can make choices for herself, and remains firmly in control over her own sex life (especially if there's an option to play pure lesbian rather than getting forced into straight relationships). Basically, a female lead who gets to BE the protagonist as opposed to just being the designated victim.

This is why this game, Casual Desires, and Good Girl Gone Bad are some of my personal faves. Sure, you can play the MC as the town bicycle, but you don't have to.
Yeah, I've been playing Casual Desires as a lesbian who's a bit experimental and likes being a bit exhibitionist, but she's not taking every possible opportunity to show off. Which is nice, because it's rare to find a game that allows you to go against what is obviously the central premise of the game, yet still offers alternate content (it's not just saying no and entirely skipping).

It's kind of like Mythos allowing you to be completely celibate in spite of (ostensibly) being a porn game. Or Toro 7 pretty much allowing you to straight up ignore all possible hookups and instead playing full on detective (and actually giving you extra scenes if you do). It's giving you the freedom to vary up play and still enjoy the experience.

This was basically my design philosophy from the onset. I wasn't even planning on including a male MC option; you'd be Kylie, full stop. I added the choice of MC because I saw how easy(ish) it could be done with Bad Memories, and I saw so, so many players say they'd never even touch a game if they couldn't play as a male. Since sex is such a minor (and optional) part of the story it wouldn't really affect the plot if you chose to be a dude.

As far as more sex-focused adult games go, I was pretty put off by a lot of the female MC games. Most do lean heavily on pushing you toward hetero relationships, and far too many are very... abuse-focused. I don't mind those kinds of games existing, because I fully believe that so long as no real-world people are being negatively affected, you can indulge in whatever you like. It's just not to my taste. Hell, there was one female MC game I played that had the MC get sexually assaulted almost immediately after starting the game!

I probably rambled too long about this, but basically, I wanted to make a positive female MC game since they're so hard to come by (and the original novel had a female main character, anyway).

In the future, I may not even have gender choices, now that I think I have enough of an audience that likes the story... plus it'd give opportunities to switch MCs, like giving people a chance to play established characters.

From what I've seen (which is not everything to be sure), a lot of "female protagonist" games fall (for the most part) into three genres;

1) Female character written for male wish fulfillment who is at your command to whore out so that you can be the guy, not the protagonist.

2) Female protagonist in purely, or mostly, lesbian story.

3) Female protagonist written from FemDom/BSDM standpoint

I know that others are out there, but those are the bulk of the titles I've seen.

.....like this gem.....

As a guy, I started playing as "Kyle". I decided, after reading some of Nine's comments early on, to try out the "Kylie" route. To be honest, I enjoy the "Kylie" route more. It makes more sense somehow. This story is written so that any of the characters could be male or female and it wouldn't really matter. The story carries. I read a lot of Science Fiction and Fantasy with female leads. A well written female lead can be quite engaging. My mother was a strong woman, my wife is a strong woman, my sister......well, lets not get carried away :ROFLMAO: .
If more female protagonist games were done like "Mythos", I'd play more of them. I'll play whatever Nine puts out however she puts it out (unless it sucks) because I enjoy the interaction between the characters.

BUT......

Kylie/Kyle is not the main character, they're just the protagonist. Tara is the main character - fight me!
