Weekly Update - January 19th, 2025

Mythos Book One is in the final testing phase; am I a real dev?!

Yeah! You did it girl!
There is a possibility that you’ll have to start from the beginning. But let’s be honest… it’s been over a year since the last update, you probably forgot most of the game, anyway.
I have already planed to replay the game from the start when the complete version will be released, for the exact reason you wrote.
But, to be honest, it won't probably change anything. And to find the culprit, I will ended to use the rigorous methodology based on analysis of the facts, study of the evidence, intellectual deduction, that Ky illustrates perfectly on this Weekly Update pic.
:)
Of course, there’s a chance everyone hates the ending of Book One, in which case I’ll just vanish into obscurity.
You can try to hide, we will find you even in the 666 plan of Hell...

Just kidding, I can't see how I can hate you.
Well, unless you killed my beloved Rain in the last chapter. :)

I played the game until the suppose to be dead girl came back, and decided to wait for you to finish it, and play it again from scratch. It's what one do when playing a good game, especially when they're story based. So worry not, we'll be happy to re-play it, our fear of it being one more unfinished and abandoned game having been assuaged. We'll even make do with the lack of cheese and werewolves.
I just hope, that there's a way to highlight the details, last time I remember having a hellish time, finding small stuffs, that you had hidden, like an apple, pics, stuff like that if memory serve.
Anyway, thanks and have fun in that comecon.

A brilliant log this, huge kudos for arriving at the conclusion phase of the game. Am sure the testers will do a fantastic job and with your writing combined it'll be fun epilogue to play out. Expect this goes on smoothly and to be honest it'll be a pleasure to play from the beginning!
Have fun at the MAGfest and take care there Nine!

Thanks for reading Dev best wishes for ahead:)

What (the fuck) are you trying to do?!
But seriously Nine of Swords ! We all know you write well, that's why we're here. So if you're worried that no one will like the ending, it means you're up to something really evil...

After seeing how so many successful series have endings that are absolutely atrocious (ie - Game of Thrones, Umbrella Academy, etc), I just worry that there's some kind of "writer's blindness" that may drive an author to butcher their own stories because they can't differentiate good from bad anymore.

I don't wanna be a let down, is all. :) I even tell my testies to specifically let me know what story points and jokes worked and which don't so that I can course-correct.

OK, so in fact, all the story was a Ky dream, who will wake up in the morning with Lisa quietly sleeping by their side?

I'd call that the "Newhart Ending", but I don't think many people would get it - either due to it being too old or too US-centric.
I mean, that does answer the question. I'd say it has to be Suzanne Pleshette ...

I have to google it, as I have no idea what "Newhart Ending" was...
When I wrote my post, I was thinking about the TV show Dallas.
Never follow it, by I know that one of the main character (Bobby?) disappear (died?), then reappear a couple of season after. And the explanation was that all the seasons between were just a dream of another main character...

Dallas and St. Elsewhere were famous for negating most/a chunk of their story lines with this kind of thing. I think Newhart lampooned them? Not completely clear on the continuity/order.

I don't know if you could call it a lampoon of those shows. What Newhart did was way more epic than any of them anyway.

Bob Newhart was a famous comedian from the 60s and 70s and had multiple half-hour comedy series on network television in the USA. The first series was with Suzanne Pleshette as his wife. Then he had another series with a completely different plot and tone and cast. Both series ran for multiple seasons.

The final scene of the second series, after a fade out from the previous scene, saw Newhart startled awake, in bed with Pleshette, and when she asked what was wrong he complained about his "dream" of living in a completely different part of the country, and all the crazy people around him. She kissed him, told him to go back to sleep. And that was the end of that series.

He later had at least two more series. All of his shows did at least relatively well.

EDIT: Those two series covered more than 16 seasons over an 18 year period.
SECOND EDIT: All that said, the other shows did come first, but since St. Elsewhere actually threw out their entire series, I guess it would be closer to lampooning that one. But really, it was just an epic joke from a fantastic comedian that couldn't have been done if it wasn't the second long series with the same actor as the star.

I get you, but the ending of Game of Thrones was bad because the makers ran out of material. To this day, Martin hasn't finished the book series and the director duo had no talent for writing. You are in no danger of that.

Me too. However, in Dallas, this was necessary because Patrick Duffy (Bobby) was temporarily out of the series. I don't think Tara, for example, would say that: Sorry, Nine, I got a better offer, I'm going to Alpha Omega for MMA. (Say, a Tara vs Natasha match would be a lot of fun.)

It's like having a game and being part of the redaction team of the superficial and unuseful knowledge encyclopedia.
We're really just testing Nine's tolerance, but she's as calm as Buddha...

Cheese topic was educational, it'd have been difficult for her, or anybody else to be grumpy about it, same about wine and comics, or music and all the other time we free-jazzed her thread. She was very calm and zen, when we commented on her so-called car, though. Not so much when mentioning werewolf lore or existence! A mystery lie there...

It's what i like about this thread: it's about a good game, and yet full of weirdos, whom spend a lot of time speaking of totally weird, and unrelated stuffs! It's like having a game and being part of the redaction team of the superficial and unuseful knowledge encyclopedia.
It's one of the reason I love this thread.
:)

It's because we don't write enough about people who transform in fury beast when the moon is full...
