Friday Update - August 5th, 2022

Chapter Three is now fully written and in testing!

I'm so exited for the update:D.
Personaly I find the story to be of paramount importance, the lewd bits are just a nice bonus.

On a side note: The girl in the header is super cute(if you have shown her to us before I can't remember her name), and I hope we get to see her lewd bits at some point.

She was a background character in the Gala scene, but I did name her when I posted all those character previews -- Reiko Shinonome. :) She isn't going to play any part in Book One, though.

I agree with LorgarAurelian, the story is what make Mythos a great game, and the lewd actions what spice it more.
I don't mean no sex at all. It's a part of the game I want it to be, but not the most important for me.
In fact, If I had to make a list of the most and least important things for me, it would be
  1. The world/lore.
  2. The murder mystery.
  3. The romantic/friendship relationship with Tara, and with the other girls.
  4. The lewd. But not in a porn way. More like the natural conclusion between two people in love, or at least attracted by each other... or if some magical ritual with a hot fairy require it ;)
  5. The werewolves conspiracy :ROFLMAO:

My list probably goes something like this:

1) Interesting character personalities and interactions
2) An interesting story
3) Interesting setting details
4) The humor
5) The animation style/graphics
6) The lewd (just the sexy bits - I count the pure romance elements to be more part of character interaction in general)

I generally judge any game on this site (or most games elsewhere, honestly) on that scale (more or less). Part of why Mythos ranks pretty my at the top of my list of games here is because I feel like it checks off every one of those boxes very well. The characters are likeable, their interactions are fun, the story is engaging, the setting is interesting, the humor is actually funny (and not weird or cringe or just bad), and the renders are absolutely beautiful.

If the game pulled a Bioware and simply "faded to black" for the sex scenes, so sex was implied but not explicitly shown, I'd probably be fine with it. Because it does everything else right. It's almost just a bonus that the lewd scenes are also good.

That magic ritual tho..

I know she's a Fae and will forget about me in a couple days, but..

Also, forgive me Tara.
If you follow Tara route, she said she doesn't want an monogamy relationship, at least for now.
So I feel like it's OK to do *that* ritual. And "playing" with other girls.

But, I must admit that I start to feel a bit guilty, because we don't see Tara messing with another woman yet. So, the open relationship seem a bit in one way.
I know it may be not very poplar, and that some will cry the 3 fateful letters of NTR, but I would like to see Tara going with other girls too. I feel an open relationship should be both way. The 2 of us should enjoy it.

Sh*t, how can I forgot the humor?!
Put it in the zero position (in fact, with the writing).

Weeellll, that's not exactly what she says.

She says she's not really looking to chain you down in that sort of relationship. It's not so much that she wants an entirely open relationship, as much as she says she's okay with you seeing other people.

The way I interpreted it (especially with her admitting that you're literally the first person she's ever been with) is that she's trying to avoid being too possessive, because she doesn't want to scare you away. So she's effectively giving you permission to see other people (if that's what makes you happy) as long as she gets to be with you as well. You're basically the first person she ever fell in love with, and she's been carrying around a hidden crush on you ever since. For years she thought it was always going to be completely unrequited because you were already with someone else, and then suddenly out of nowhere and completely unexpectedly you reciprocate her feelings. No matter how cool she might act on the surface, deep down she's probably terrified that she's going to blow this chance she never thought she was going to get in the first place.

(And that's not even taking your own beacon-ness into account, where supernaturals all feel drawn to you. Or your position as the main character in a visual novel, which means you're a memetic sex god who can pretty much seduce half the people you meet and get people you barely know to agree to be in harems.)

Tara suddenly chasing after someone else doesn't really fit with her personality or her history. If she was that willing to look for fun or love elsewhere, she probably would have hooked up with someone else while you were still with Lisa. She's saving herself for you, even if you're not saving yourself for her.

Thanks...
Now I feel guilty...

But I must admit you are probably right.
However, now that we are a couple, maybe there would be a a way to reassure her.
And that she also could have some fun with who she wants.

I am all about ethical polyamory — it's just not something I'm really ready to delve into in Book One. It's already pretty packed with trying to get the audience introduced to the world, the characters, their relationships, AND the murder mystery. I originally was going to try to work some romantic drama into the Book One, but it felt like it'd have been too bloated at that point. In the future, however (if Kylie/Kyle remain the MC) it'll come up.

Now I just wait for inevitable "facepalm" react I keep getting from that one guy who never posts, but hates the idea of polyamory and always reacts to posts about it. LOL

I'm sorry, but I'm tired of polyamory. There is very few true harem games. Most of the time it turns into all the girls are now bi out of nowhere. It gets old. Just my opinion.

If anything, I'd argue that most games with harem mechanics aren't really polyamory or even bi relationships as much as they are one dominant alpha male (or occasionally female) maintaining multiple simultaneous one-on-one relationships, and occasionally forcing their toys to play with each other for their own amusement (which is why a lot of harem fans complain whenever their LIs hook up without them or without their express consent).

True polyamory would be where the main character would have multiple partners, but those multiple partners would also have multiple partners of their own, and there wouldn't necessarily be total synchronization between the two (like a complicated Venn Diagram of fucking). There could be complete overlap (with all the partners also being with every other partner more or less equally to some degree), but there could also be people who are dating one or two of the people in the chain but not the others.

That's rare as hell in VNs, though, because that's when the dread specter of NTR starts to raise its head, and the flame wars begin.

Saw a Daz asset for making custom shirts. I've been working to learn Iray Decals in Daz because I wanted to make some customized things for my characters. I realized Decals could do(ish) what this product could do so I thought I'd give it a try.

I cobbled this together backwards, forwards and sideways so that might be why the back logo didn't conform properly when posed. Going to start over using what I know now. The Mythos shirt has got to look cool when I drop it into my game ;)

For some reason, I really struggle with decals!!! For Sophia's CyberDaze shirt, I actually just edited the texture of the shirt directly, because I couldn't get the decal to do what I wanted it to. :( Glad to see you're not having such issues!

I am having some issues. When I put the logo on the back, it was centered and looked good, when I posed her it shifted half off of her back. I had to un-parent it, move it, then re-parent it. Decal's are fast, but I think there are some issues when you are using objects that morph - like a person. Directly editing the texture is the most foolproof and offers the most options in the long run I'm sure. I'm going to play with that some as well.
