This is an insane level of panic. It's been 2 months, not 2 years. There's no plot to "run off" with enough money for 4 trips to the fucking grocery store. Nobody said the update was dropping July 7th at 12 am. Stop.
Dude this game is awesome. Really.
Namely, everything happens the same way as with a great game called “dungeon & prisoners.” It was the same great game with ready-made gameplay, just add locations and write text. But alas. At first there was silence and many years have passed and the game remains abandoned and the author has simply disappeared.

If the dev has been online and most likely been reading the comments here, the least he can do is to communicate weather he has abandoned the project or he's working on the update. Either here or on his Patreon...
Maybe its best to give the dev some space, there are a million reason why someone would not want to communicate if they had an issue. Its not like anyone has paid for the version that we got(it was released right as the patreon was setup) and while people have done so on Patreon that is kinda the deal with in-development stuff you are supporting the dev not buying a product.

This was not some long dragged out scam, all this doing is putting pressure on a person which might just remove their incentive to work on the game.

Probably doesn't know his last online time gets tracked and wanted to keep low profile or smth I'd assume, as for reasons why ur guess is as good as mine

IMHO some people in this thread are getting to harsh to the Dev about the next update. I undesatand that dev mentioned something about two months update circle but ok guys he is not two months delayed in his statement. I don't think is needed to put more pressure on him than the pressure he is already put himself. I would like to see this game get an update but it's ok for me to wait as long as it takes. Best of luck to dev.

I think it's just the lack of an update which is worrying people, not so much the missed timeframe.

Even if there's a lack of an update, it should be of some reassurance that he was last seen online in general. Other devs who have abandoned a project just disappeared from social media completely. He is probably still working on the project but has had issues, but after seeing how other developers have faced backlash for that is afraid to be upfront about it. He'll come around when he comes around, and if we don't see him online again in the next few months, then I can understand considering this game abandoned. Though hounding him and pressuring him for not updating on time and not telling us (who he has no obligation to do so) what may have happened, would probably scare him away more. This is his forum for his game, people should make him feel welcomed and secure, not like an online mob. Sorry for quoting you, I'm not targeting you specifically, but the statement you're putting out there itself.

I for one am dying to see an update for this game. I've loved the characters, the story, the rendering, and the animation so far, so much. I'm willing to wait though. It's been almost two months, but games take time. Set deadline or not, you can't rush perfection. I'm willing to wait another month or so for this game, especially if that just adds on a lot of new juicy content to this already great game.

Hey TrippyDippity. Just saw your patreon comments. Christ. Please ignore the spamming nutjobs that started calling the game abandoned weeks ago and demanding updates. It's a loud minority.

But it would be really easy to let people know you're alive and making progress. Make a comment somewhere once in a while. People will be less likely to panic and more willing to support you. Delays are fine. You're not under any strict deadlines, nobody will attack you. Radio silence is worse.
