Thats the consequence of trying to slam out a game every few months to keep cash coming in, makes ideas hard to come by and forces you to do a hack job. Hes going to see less and less money from every game because he released garbage.
Well, he was actually planning to give a full year's development to the next one. But then he ended up giving this game several months of support. Sounds like his plans to give the next one a full year haven't changed, he's just gonna be cutting it close on money. Or the last months of development are gonna drag out longer than expected like the support for this one.
Honestly, this guy's service was on point. He responded to most comments and half the support he gave over the last few months was adding player-requested features. He was even responding to English comments pretty well. He has drive and actually communicates. He doesn't feel like a cynical developer, just one that needs to get his shit together and lock the fuck in.
First of all, he's not afraid to get fuckin' weird with it. The last game was about teaching the stock market to a succubus. And this one was island-survival Pikman. If he really was just shitting out game's like an assembly line, he'd just do generic shit instead of bizarre concepts. Getting weird with it never sells well. Only people who actually like making things and actually like the medium they're working in are willing to get weird with it.
I feel like once he gets the actual game dev portion of his operations sorted out(Maybe take a few classes), he could be a pretty fun indie to follow. He'd probably still make trash, might even still be asset flips, but I could see it being fun asset-flip trash. That said, it would be nice if he found a dedicated 3D modeler. If/When he could ever scrape together the money to pay for one.
