They don't kill accounts for inactivity, that's part of their value. Just like every other subscription service their ideal customer is the ones who forget they're subbed and keep lining their pockets, and a dev doing the same is even better since they can use that non-paid money in other revenue streams like a bank. Either the dev took them down themselves or they were breaking some ToS so badly that both companies nuked them. Likely the first.

There were barely 5 people left paying for his game.
It no longer earned him anything, and he wasn't interested in resuming the game.
It simply died completely.
