Well, too often, devs have excellent premisies, but they modify their goals mid-development, trying to care of what is said in the forums, mostly to attract suscribers.
And the game turns into a mess.
Please don't forget that :
- for each one is own idea of the game they want : you won't satisfy everyone
- people who post on forums are often the non-constructive one (haters, complainers, people that want you to make the game they are not able to do themself , who want you to include their kinks the way they want etc...)
- the vast majority of porn game players never post anything.
So my advice (yes, i'm one who gives advices too) for you dev is to make the game YOU love, stay consistent till the end, just add the ideas YOU think will improve YOUR game, and be proud of the result.
And your next game will be better with all you learned on the previous.
The only changes we've ever done are basically:
An engine update to satisfy technical demands which made sense. Some QoL was lacking and we added it.
Emma's story rewrite was something I was not I was personally satisfied it. I confirmed it with the audience to make sure I wasn't alone on that take but it was mostly personal motivation.
But other than that, we had more scope cuts to make the workload manageable and to not over promise and deliver something that's quick enough.
Point is I don't change things to satisfy anyone here. In fact if people actually played through Mai's story, they'd know it's not an NTS story but most the complaints are that it is. So the people who don't even play the game, rate the game and bash when they don't want to play through it to begin with. That's why I don't take the reviews here seriously. The moderation doesn't seem too interested in reviews that don't play the game.
For example look at the "honestreviews" user who reviewed are game. Can you tell me where he indicates he played the game? He doesn't know the character names, or tropes, or their stories. He's vaguely responding to the synopsis, and doesn't even mention animation (which is absent in the synopsis). Moderation refused to remove this fake review. So I won't try anymore.
I even considered giving up f95 for support for the game but sometimes people say nice things here which is so wholesome, I don't want to punish the many because a few stupids have access to reviews and too much hate.
So yeah absolutely agree with you. I just expected the reviews to be more constructive than random comments with a rating that can hurt us. Some of them are! But overall it's harder to take them seriously when there's a lot of litter. That's about all.
We'll continue doing our best!
