VN - Ren'Py - New Beginnings in Japan [Ch. 2 v0.5.0] [Shikharsfree]

The reviews here are something else. You can't possibly be serious. Praising this game for its "story" is like you are giving a glowing review to a Happy Meal (unless you take McNuggets naturally).

The characters are completely inane, the MC is barely even a person in the way she sleep walks through the story. Choices are almost completely reduced to: "Do you want to get harassed by some random guy in a completely contrived situation? Yes/No."

Even if you had a lobotomy, there's no way you can actually consider this good.

So, TLDR: Play it for poorly done p0rn scenes if you are that needy.

i cant describe how fun this game is first of all the story is amazing and the story telling as very good chacters in the game with a good back ground the style of the game amazing as well i did not expect this game to have such a good story almost made me cry sometimes ihope you keep working on it and finsh it and i wish the best of luck

I really wanted to like the game, theres few "times" I think now we are talking, but thats not enough to make it playable. its so silly that its irritating. DEV should hire a writer that know how to make a good story, because this is a disaster.

Overall: Average game with tonal whiplash= big life lesson psychological dialogue followed by "Tits! Man... Tits!"

Characters: Metric shit-ton of characters. Yeah it's in the dev notes. Still too much for me.

Graphics: Some are great. Some... are horrid: Some (literal) assholes look worse than the eye of Sauron.

Sex: As of [Ch. 2 v0.4.9] 3ish sex scenes. There rest are groping, oral, etc...

Feet: No foot fetish tag. It's accurate. But a LOT of close-ups of feet (see previews). That can be a big plus or minus to some.

Sentences: Hey Dev. have some: ... ,,, ;;; but in return, less random spaces, esp. before a comma.
Best ex: "youc ans ee" which, for a second, I thought was a name... because Kiara is often kiara.

Fantasy: If you're going to do "special surgery that removes specific memories", I'd prefer a Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Super-Hero setting or its jarring.

Pet Peeves:
1-scenes like: Class ends after introductions? Just write 1 Line of text "Kiara teaches her first class." That's it. Otherwise, makes it another game where the MC's can't do their jobs.

2-characters like: Agent Wong. Jake. Don't introduce them as shitbags, add a tragic past/motivation and expect us to 180 on how we feel about them.

3-coincidences like: "Her name was..." and here comes an interruption at that precise moment. Then again, Hollywood does it all the time...

Final Verdict: The game is a 3...+/- 2 depending on how you stand on feet.

WOW, an adult VN that's story based, not sluts, no gangbangs, no rape, no blackmail, just a game that shows the female mc in a more positive manner which is long overdue, that has real love interests, real family issues, real life emotions, it has got me hooked in a good way

Started off interesting, followed the story, no complaints from me for the build up what so ever, it just made it that much better when you finally get to play as the mc, to have a adult vn that makes you feel heart broken because of her past, that's heart breaking, and i do agree, John is an ASS and I want to stay and watch Kiara life playout in a positive manner and make her father if you can call him that, pay big time

I have literally no complaints on this, really am enjoying it, keep up the good work dev and team

What impressed me most in this game, which I think is rare in games with female MCs is a female POV or at least there is interaction between the writer and the devs.
This makes it more realistic in terms of the emotions, feelings, excitement and thoughts a woman has.
The plot is compelling, the characters are well described with their history, the graphics are excellent, even for exteriors, and the frequency of constant releases is very timely.

this game is great in all aspects :

Pros:
-There's already a lot of content (story and renders)
-It looks like the author(s) used the face transfer feature in DAZ studio (or something similar) which allows modifying faces using photos of real persons. Whatever he used, it gives all characters a kind of unique look over the regular DAZ models, which works quite well.


Neutrals:
-There are *a lot* of renders and it's clear the dev went for quantity over quality. Posing of the character models is often crude and camera setup sloppy. I feel this is not really a "con" though as the large amount of renders still makes the game somewhat easier to digest then VNs who solely rely on avatars to visualize the story / plot.


Cons:
-The amount of choices is on the low side and it seems like the dev is not willing to let the player influence the plot. All choices seem strictly limited to picking a romance path and upping (or not) corruption points -or what's even worse: are non-choices ("do you want to see the following smut scene or nahh?". Seriously? In a porn game? How are these type of "choices" still a thing?).
-The cast is too large. Like way too large. It feels like only about 20% of the game is about the MC, while you are along for the ride for the remaining 80% of the scenes. These scenes mostly don't even allow for any player input at all and pretty much form a kinetic novel inside the rest of the game.
-Bugs. Several scenes with missing images and some choices with wrong text prompts.


The game has potential, but the dev needs to work on the weak points (lack of choices, engrish, cohesion of the story, bugs) to realize it. Depending how it goes the game might end up being a solid 4 or a disappointing 2.

As of now this could still go either way.

The game strikes a fine balance between sensual encounters and a well-crafted plot. The story is handled with pizazz and subtle sultry giving players an opportunity to connect with the characters .
The game is fun, exciting and lastly but most importantly erotic.
I definitely recommend people to give this game a try if the tags with the game is for you not to like one and explore further.

Good female protagonist VN. The characters all look pretty unique compared to the sea of clones in 3DCG games. Some real effort in the characterization, graphics look pretty nice, a LOT of content. Pretty good game all around.

Absolutely loved the game , this review is for version (0.4.5) of chapter 2.

It's very rare that i like fem protag games that aren't a sandbox or 2d , but this attracted be due to it's graphics , for real i was super wrong about it being just a pretty looker.

I don't know what some of the reviewers here are on about or what they are smoking , this is hands down one of the best female protagonist games i have played.

I mean I came to nut here and here i am worried about an person in fiction now lol , whoever the writer is props to him man. Keep working dev , In future this will be a great game to look back to.

Plot: Non existent, and I truly do mean that. Sure there's a semblance of it in here but trying to get it might cook your brain.

Graphics: Actually pretty good. The women look nice and they're fairly varied, at least enough to not be boring; and the guys don't look like total chumps.

Wouldn't recommend.

The renders are good quality and that caught my eye at first.
But the game is so bad after this initial catch.

FIrst is the text. I'm not a native english speaker, but many sentences feel like they aren't right, are missing words, ponctuation signs... and are, in short, unintelligible.

Then there is the plot. It starts quick. With that, there is no problem. Mother and daughter go to a hotel... then the mother goes away, someone steal a bag in the room... no consequence.
A friend comes to drop another bag but doesn't take 15 seconds to say hi. The friend just is thinking "I'll meet her later!" ... ??? why? why didn't she spend 5 minutes to wait for the girl to open the door and find her and the bag?
No in the game, just the bag is there, ...

Then the mother is at some place, and speak with a ... lawyer? about divorce from her drunk husband, but the lawyer says she has to get rid of the evidences of the fact that her husband is an alcohol addict for the incoming divorce? Why? it makes not sense!

And from that point, it was a serie of unintelligible events, with good looking backgrounds and girls in it, but the story? none.

And I may be odd, but when I play a visual novel, story is a very important thing. It doesn't need a solid plot. A simple "house of sex" plot is good but there is a real need for a story. It shouldn't be random scenes following without reason.

And alas, that games didn't provide it so... 2 stars. I hesitated to put 1 star but the visuals are too good for 1star only.

This is one of the best VN, it as everything I want in it.

Top quality writing – the story/plot is interesting and original. The characters (male and female) are fascinating, believable, relatable, consistent in their actions and motivations and not one dimension (even for the awful evil dad )

Professional rendering - the general composition and dynamic of each scene/sequence (lighting, angle, perspective) are striking, diverse and well polished.

The female characters are gorgeous <3

Choice that matter – it is kind of a corruption game (I’m generally not a fan of) but it feels different… its hard for me to describe but its not a slut simulator I’ll tell you that much. Everything up to this point make sense and is realistic (in my eyes at lease)

Even though Kiara is bisexual, she not constantly drooling over guys. Which is a big plus for me. There is a lot of Sapphic content - even bigger plus for me

The only negative for me is the occasional “surprise dicks” here and there, especially in the beginning. A “lesbian mode” could skip those scenes automatically but you would lose some part of the plot… which is worse. I know I’m one of the only who have a problem with that so I don’t think is worth the effort (and its possibly game braking/save corrupting? idk)

All in all, I love this VN and you should definitively give it a try.

My only gripe is that the grammar issues need correction , If you could hire a proofreader and get it fixed up then it would be perfect.

This is one pure gem of a Games (visual novels). Graphics is very good and the story is excellent.
This is probably one of the best corruption game. It may seem slow at the beginning but it soon take the pace and is going in right direction. In beginning it looks like there are too many characters, but as the story unfolds they all fit just right.
I especially have to praise how the cosplay / photoshooting scenes were made. Too bad there aren't more scenes like that or I'm too impatient to wait for them.
And not to forget to praise how the clothes for the female characters were done. Traditional Japanese costume is combined with modern trends and it looks so good that it cannot be described in words, it has to be seen.
The game has some minor spelling mistakes, but the story is so good that it can be ignored.
The best thing is that it is developing pretty fast, it's probably the only game that I'm sure it will be finished while I'm still young
I don't know if is one guy or a team but it is a hell of good work. Keep it up.

I really wanted to like this game and I actually really like the models and the story. What drags this game down is a few things. First, the story switches around way too much. I don't mind playing as multiple characters, but this one has way too many. You make choices as the mom, the daughter, the secret agent, the cousin, the sister, etc. It just gets to be too much and too confusing. I was hoping that I would get to stay as the main girl. The point system is also weird and stupid. There was a point where I flirted with one of the LI and then found out that increasing the points of one LI decreased the other for some reason. That doesn't make any sense. If you want the game to ultimately end with a single LI that's fine with me. I am flirting with multiple people though, so it should build up with everyone. Just cause I flirt with one person does not undo the flirting with the other person. There are a bunch of spelling mistakes and weird inconsistencies. There are points where you are offered a job and the dialogue says it pays either 100 or 350, then the choices come up and it's between 200 and 500 or something like that. It happens multiple times during the game and just shows poor attention to detail and editing. Overall, this game feels like the dev is just making it in a hurry and doesn't care if things make sense or are consistent. Also it's looking like there are going to be certain storylines or choices that will not be up to the player that I think should be. This game looks good but doesn't have any substance to back it up. This game had so much potential but it seems like it won't be realized.

There is not many female protag games that I can honestly say, I enjoy and I support for the future of the game

The story, is unique, this is not the normal copy and paste game, it has a decent story with a backstory and a future story, the scenes with the mc are very well made, I honestly can say, the mc story and her path and what you choice for her along the way, gets me immersed with her story, I care what happens with the choices I make for her

There are scenes that got me hooked on the game with t he concepts of the scenes and the story and the writing that I have not seen before within any female protag games as of yet, all of which are all well put together

Best part of this game is the multiple paths you can take, with different scenes and story for each path, which is why you can replay it with different choices and get different story each time

I support games that gets me immersed within the story, this is one of them, I proud to be a patreon for the dev as I do believe in Kiara and her story and the game in full.

This is a game that you should try! I am a sucker for white women in an Asian world, i like AMWF as well so I thought this game is right up my alley. What I got was so much more, not just AMWF but an intricate plot that pulls you in right away.

Everything I have seen so far makes me really hopeful for the future. Especially if there are bad endings / bad paths for the protagonist. We can all agree the Dad is a major asshole / psychopath but I like rooting for them from time to time especially if they are as self destructive as he is.
I dont know if that is the end game but some upcoming events suggest this might be the case.

If this will follow only this path is probably the only (bad) thing I can see at the moment. For me it would not matter, sure I would prob play a good guy save but I primarily want the drunk dad to dominate everyone. Some are not into that stuff and I hope the dev accounts for that and leaves good paths in for people more into lovey dovey stuff and the good guys winning. At this point he has the means to do both and to do them well. My preferred way would be a split good / bad path and while this means more content it is probably worth it down the line. A game like this can really be a long term thing and does not have to be rushed to be finished by the end of the year, but with good communications and frequent updates I dont mind games spanning 3-5 years.

This is another big plus. The dev seems hugely involved here and answers all the time. This is a rarity and should warrant applause alone.
