This used to be the case. Many popular game developers stopped releasing updates every month. Generally, they're all focused on profit, and updates aren't released before 2-3 months. (I'm talking generally.)

Are you confusing game updates with dev logs there? Joshy said most devs put out a dev log at least monthly (often weekly) - providing an update on progress and any other news. He wasn't talking about the actual game update being monthly.
