Thats not bad render but why should I use wam?
It's real question I have zero clue. Never used it.
Easy to use/learn and tons of free tools, plugins, content etc. And it is also build for VR, if you want to check out some cool scene's players have made.

Virt A Mate is made to create adult stuff in VR, but you can also make so much different things. People use it to make novels, VR scene's, but also music clips, non-adult content and many more things. It works on the Unity engine, you can even simply import Unity assets.

I use VaM to make renders but it can be used for so many other things. A good friend of mine uses VaM in VR, where he can touch and interact with characters. I use it to make renders.

But I also know people who focus on making animations, or other things.

You can do everything. It even has plugins for voice commands, realistic e-motions, even emotions plugins. If you touch them somewhere on their body, they react to it. So many different things can be done with this software.

Just look on this website from all the possibilites that the community has made.

At some point I was even busy with making renders and suddenly one of my characters started to react to stuff that I was doing. She started to show emotions, started to move around, breath, following me everywhere etc. Then I forgot that I had some plugins running in the background, it freaked me out for a second. But I just forgot that I had some plugins running. :ROFLMAO: That's how realistic VaM can become.

Thanks.
I really need to look more seriously into it when I have time. Looking at the wiki, it uses genesis 2 framework (rig/uv) with basic physical sim. I not sure what kind of RT rendering engine it uses tho, wiki shader part is quite succint. Looks like it lack any SSS but got a proper specular layer? Bump but no normals? Subscription-based software is also quite annoying. Anyway looking forward to it, might be fun \o/

When you subscribe to their Patreon, you will receive a launcher and a key (depending on your tier). You download the software through the launcher and when you start up the software, you fill in your code in the menu and you unlock the right version. When you cancel your sub on Patreon, you can keep using the software. You also receive the newest updates through the launcher, you don't even need to make a account or use your Patreon account. To make it even easier, if you go for the 8 dollar tier, you will recieve exact the same key as anyone else that bought the Tier 8.

I only support VaM Patreon once, and i'm still using it after two years. They are now busy with VaM 2 which supports Genesis 8 (8.1) but I don't recommended yet. It's very alpha and lack in possibilites. So, I would recommend VaM 1.

What do you mean with RT rendering? Real-time, Ray tracing, Rasterized?

But anyway, to answer your other question. It depends on the creator of the texture, some are very basic and some are better in quality and also comes in different layers.

I'm using a skin texture that has a diffuse, specular, gloss and normal layer. I don't have much experience in Daz3D, because I find VaM easier to use. But VaM is orginal software to create adult things in VR but is now used for many other things. It uses the Unity engine and you can import things from Unity. It also supports Daz3d, blender, photoshop and many other things. Some people even got Genesis 8 working. But it's not for layman people, i've tried to import Genesis 8 in to VaM and eventually I gave up. I should try again one day, but I would rather wait for VaM 2. I also want to learn more about Daz3D, but I found it always to complex and so I quit very easily. I should give it another chance again, and start working with Daz3D and VaM.

You even have plugins to add options that the vanilla doesn't have. You even have a SSS plugin for example. This software is community driven. And many plugins are just writing by the community itself.

Here is for example a SSS plugin, but I have to try it out myself.

EDIT: I do have the plugin installed, I checked very quickly. It even comes with tessellation options.

Tessellation off.

Thanks fort he comments :)
I will not invest in any new hardware as long as i am still learning.

Untill now I have just been following a few tutorials and using the free stuff available.
I'm also using GTX1070 for my rendering machine because I can't afford to spend money on that PC yet, but I almost finish my 2nd game with it, so there is no problem using 1070 for learning or even creating a game with it.

Here are some renders with GTX1070, without texture optimization
