I spotted a question mark to a sentence that is a statement. The npc generator has a larger filesize than the game itself?
I share this sentiment. Unfortunately, a lot of games like this have a lot of 'gender-bend' content for some reason. I'm surprised that there still aren't any games out there that 'borrows' New life's mechanics and features. As disappointing as this game is I do think it's still the best of its genre. Most of the others areautistic tranny simulators- sorry, I mean "very detailed life-as-a-woman simulators".
In those ones you have to constantly shave your legs, shower & eat every few hours, use tampons, check your make-up, comb your hair, take your vitamins, go to the bathroom every half hour, manage your weight, occasionally modify your clothes because you gained too much weight, manually move to wherever you want to go while having to keep in mind the schedule of places and NPCs, and all the while also grind stats... all for either very little content or fairly mediocre content.
Some of these games feel like they're made more for Jonathan Yaniv than for players who just want a decent porn game.
I think SO only will spend XYZ time per month making game content, and if loads of people want to donate that much then it is their choice. The upshot being the game is not going anywhere fast, suspect SO's enthusiasm dropped, but support didn't. Only way to tell is if support starting dropping and SO doubled content. The flip side is that SO might be content for a few hundred dollars per month in exchange for minor updates (5-10 hours per month). So the defense is "I did such a bad job setting up my project, I need more money to get things done" ?
I looked at writing a scene for the game and after reading the comprehensive writing guide I couldn't face it. Even if I was paid good money I would think it over. I think due to the sheer amount of variables writing text for all the different attributes is soul destroying. Takes a certain type.I'm surprised that there still aren't any games out there that 'borrows' New life's mechanics and features.
We have Female Agent that borrows some elements (it was inspired by new life, according to the dev himself). But they also hit a wall and people are disappointed with their updates (or lack of them)I share this sentiment. Fixing computer - I don't know. Getting coffee spilled on clothes - cry (can't be ambitious), then the boss must offer his help, then you must be either be flirty or you can't have a bra.Has anyone found a way to transition into a sex scene from the new events. Someone asked in the discord but it didn't seem like they got a reply.
Managed to get the crying one - I've searched through the decompiled jar file and realised you can theoretically rip the rivals blouse - then trap them in a room and get the boss to go tell her off for not having the correct uniform, and then eavesdrop. Tried to proc that for a bit and couldn't.Fixing computer - I don't know. Customization and simplification of a day. Having to brush teeth or wash hands is too much, of course the PC is going to do that unless they're a complete incel neckbeard. With that being said, since my game will likely target the same sort of people who play Newlife, what do you guys think are things that SO does well with Newlife, and what are perhaps things you think are just redundant?
From the position of someone who actually has a clothed sex fetish, I do think the clothing system is too much. There's really no reason why there should be 20 different kinds of bras in a non-visual game. Especially when they all do effectively the exact same thing.I'm kind of in the middle of developing my own game loosely inspired by Newlife. I do think that this game has a ton of potential, and it's got quite a bit of content, though nowhere near as much as it should have given the 5+ years of dev. I think it's the mixture of both SO's lack of motivation and the technical debt of the code.

For me personally, I think the customizable NPC system and high-level schedule that leaves a lot to imagination are some of the game's strongest points and are things I'd definitely try to implement in my own way for my game. On the other hand, I really could care less for the clothing system, since after replaying the game for x times (and this is for probably every other game out there), I really stop caring about what my character wears as long as it triggers things that it's supposed to trigger. Any thoughts?
For what it is worth I agree with FrogFrozen the whole clothing system should be simplified. I do think it makes a difference though and allows three gameplay situations; shy, slutty or a 'normal' character doing something 'brave'. It allows progressive corruption, say seduce the boss, or get harassed by boss (wants you to wear slutty outfits etc).I really could care less for the clothing system
Tested this, you need bitchy to rip clothes + a lot of strength. I tested with max and it worked.Managed to get the crying one - I've searched through the decompiled jar file and realised you can theoretically rip the rivals blouse - then trap them in a room and get the boss to go tell her off for not having the correct uniform, and then eavesdrop. Yeah - realised that. Was looking through the decompiled jar and saw it was >95. My womanly sulty npc capped out at 90.Tested this, you need bitchy to rip clothes + a lot of strength. I tested with max and it worked.
Make it open source so it's possible for others to keep going with it in case you drop itSo, any thoughts?
