Their last 4-5 games were like this.

So the characters break 4th wall and have an F95esque 30 paragraph debate about what is technically NTR and what isn't?

why not? Because all these games are being made solo or at least most of them, that's why no one gonna waste time making good plot with every 3-4 antagonists in all routes or something and making all plots worthwhile, instead they will try to please everyone with more characters, but fail because of rushed and average plot with everyone hence average, bad game.
+ There is a lot of games where all antagonists corrupt her at the same time which makes FMC a Slut Prostitute and that's Red Line where plot will be trash no matter how you try to twist it even if its inevitable and forced.
