We don't know what the hell the MC is thinking. His thoughts are extremely muted. He could be laughing his ass off like the devil this entire time for all we know.

As in he could be the true secret ultimate hyper mastermind this whole time. Imagine that after you reach the end of the game you get an epilogue where the MC reveals a SECOND phone with absolutely everything and intel pointing toward him engineering things toward a specific outcome this whole time. Sounds crazy but since we already know his perspective is unreliable it's very possible to pull off.
