Not meaning to cut into RaG talk, but I had a general thought / question that I'd be interested in other folks' take on: do people feel like NTR is a genre that's particularly divisive within its fanbase?

To clarify on that, I specifically do *not* mean the fact that people tend to either love or despise NTR in general; I feel like that's well established. What I mean is that, even within the group of folk that all self-idenitfy as NTR fans, opinions on whether something is a good or bad NTR game / doujin / whatever seem like they can vary wildly.

As an example, and what got me thinking about this: recent chat here got me checking out the thread for the SAO NTR game, and in particular reading through the reviews. One common theme I noticed throughout the 4 and 5 star reviews was people praising the game for the well done, slow burn fall / corruption of the heroine. But then, I realized there was also a common theme throughout the 1 and 2 star reviews: dragging the game for unrealistic-even-by-NTR-standards corruption, where the heroine basically falls from the very start. This is for the same game! Those are literally polar opposites, they cannot both be true!

I don't want to make this about that game specifically; that was the example that pulled this to mind, but I've definitely noticed a similar trend in other games on here. Do others feel like they've noticed this? Do folk feel like it's just the same level of personal opinion and disagreement you'd find for anything, or is there something in particular about NTR that leads to such wildly different takes?
Because most people judge subjectively.
There are many types of NTR, so people's tastes vary accordingly.
Some prefer slow burn, some don't. In my opinion, it is necessary to look at how well it is done.
I can't judge the quality in SAO as I haven't played it because I simply don't like nerdy ugly bastard on bull guy.

And when people don't like something, they tend to downrate / review bomb it xD

This is especially noticeable in the NTR genre.
Main auditory are demanding, while normies who love harems will review bomb the hell out of those projects.

Recently, I liked the most Misanthropy.
Perfect pacing, perfect set of fetishes and characters for me.

Rent a girlfriend :cautious: Honestly how this manga is almost 400 chapters and how is still going is beyond me.

Basicly the main lead Kazuya had a boner in a public pool because he was thinking about the female lead being boned by another man(ch 218 for those that are curious),a fellow actor she knows but which she turned down saying that there is someone she likes(she likes the main lead)
Dropped the manga around this arc because at that point were 0 progression after hundreds of chapters .
Reality check or not i need some kind of progression to happen in story but if there isnt one than is wasted time.

Cuckuya from the first chapter has remained almost the same(except for a few rare sprinkles of rationality here and there) with behaviors bordering parasocial but somehow he had several chances with other girls which were rejected later on(yeah i know is a harem manga so thats expected).
Chizuru is always indecisive about what to do with Cuckuya and when she ghosted the main lead for 3 months because she was starting to feeling something for him was peak stupidity.
All in all both are toxic and not a good couple.

The most recent chapter there seems to be another stalling situation considering how she is not rejecting the dude.
Wish she did so that the male lead could move on but aka this manga is know for this back and forth.
btw This is a tactic that the author has always employed as to milk as much as he can this series since he knows he got lucky.
That's exactly why I don't like Slice of Life as main genre. They lead nowhere. No progress.

Oh, the game I've been waiting for is out. It should be of very high quality. But it's not NTR..
Perhaps someone will enjoy it

slice of life at least has the balls to tell you that there is no story. the problem is that you make something with the promise of delivering a story. but I understand rent a girlfriend is this generations love hina.

Really looking forward to Jinsei Tsuukoudome's next game. For anyone unfamiliar, he's the creator behind titles such as Honto no Kimochi, Iro Yoridori and Egao no Riyuu (if you haven't played any of these, I'd highly recommend them).

It's listed under the title Kotoneiro on VNDB and scheduled for a 2025 release.

According to Jinsei's latest Ci-En post ( ), he's sending off the finalized script and rough illustrations to VA's by the end of July, so I'm hoping this releases late this year or early next year.
