Hey guys.

I'm currently making a 2d mystery NTR visual novel (not AI art). It currently has around 25 ~ 30 minutes of content, including an animated sex scene. There is no actual NTR content yet, because I don't want to rush it.

Do you think I should release it now and keep adding content over time, or should I add more before releasing it?

If you think I should add more content, what do you think the minimum is? Since it's mystery NTR and you obviously play from the male POV, I'm not sure at what point it would be enough.

Sorry if it's a stupid question. It's my first game.
I've seen a game released with even less content and I still follow it today, you can publish it without a problem, if in those 30 minutes you show a bit of how the game will work, it's fine.

i was complaining about this in a discord server.
lots of new "NTR" games, but it's just "potential NTR" as they are.
if at all possible, release with a minimum of one sex scene where someone else's dick is inside her

however, this is a first-world problem, and not a serious complaint
my favorite game i'm following right now is NekoNTR, which at this point has no penetration yet.
so this small yap won't stop me from supporting a game

in all seriousness, as long as you are able to:

1) show how you approach NTR
players can envision where you're going with it
to warn you, these NTR guys are picky, and even disagree among themselves what's NTR

2) accept early on you can't make everyone happy
you should prioritize making the game you'd be playing if you weren't the one sitting there making it
your first and foremost player and fan is yourself
it's a bonus when you align with a target audience for it, and accept their feedback

3) make sure it's something you'll be able to stick with
plan ahead, there are things that might derail you, whether you want it or not, if you don't take considerations
complete your vision for the game, spend more time planning.
sometimes even during planning you think of better things to add/approach to do

i just can't emphasize planning phase more.
right now i have multiple spreadsheets, the main one having 16 sheets of plans and whatnot
and i have changed core mechanics ever since i started writing coz it wasn fun enough before
imagine if i went headfirst into it

4) consider making a thread instead in Programming, Development & Art before an actual game release
get feedback, discuss with others, open your mind

5) consider a tech demo, prototype before even opening up patreon or any kind of paywall

i probably yapped more than the question required, but i hope this helps somehow

I translated it using Translator++, but for some reason, the clothes on the main character disappear after that.
Sometimes there are scripts attached not only to an item but also to the exact name file of that item, for this type of situations using mtool is perfect as it can translate everything without touching the game files at all.

What are the NTR that have some hype that will be released this year?
For me this one, but mostly for the tabletop way of playing and the rng of the other two players that will ntr the MC, at least it will be a fresh air after a lot ofgames that goes for the "From A to B point" that released lately

Black Rune (maybe this year, anyone can hope)

These are the three i kind or more look forward to. Black Runes Dev returned and is working, but took a pause. Since the Dev got burnt out andis a hardcore perfectionist, had to take a break, to my understanding. Foolish to not inform his Ci-en page, but oh well.

There is Dungeon and Bride. But very unclear if it is this year or not. Correct me if otherwise.

Then there is other ongoing projects on other places than Ci-en. Some that has more or less been paused or even halted, some reasons being that other projects has taken priority.

That is all, for now. This has been written by my right hand only. Other was greasy by popcorn.

Take care!

why is it when it's from the east, the question is when is it going to release?
if it's us, the question is when is the next update?

The best NTR is a mix of MC/FMC perspectives.

In the past, I played an NTR that was male-only POV… it was bad. Scenes with minimal context, everything obscured, couldn’t even see the girl’s corruption. When you got to the end, the girl was already long gone. As we all know, the journey is as important as the destination in NTR, not seeing the girl’s corruption in real-time is absolutely a travesty.

Therefore, the problem is not female protagonists, but poor writing. There is no NTR if the bf/husband gets written out 5 minutes into the story. For that reason, although Acerola games are labeled NTR, they’re mostly corruption because you don’t interact with the husband in any meaningful way.

I enjoy playing as the heroine, and I also enjoy playing as the “hero,” so my VN focuses on both perspectives. I want to see how Akari falls to the ugly bastard, not just observe the aftermath.

The Japanese crowdfunding sites are in Japanese, which makes westerners averse to register and enter their payment info.
Updates aren’t immediately playable unless one knows Japanese, unless you're just there for the scenes.
Translators (human ones) often only translate games that are completed. Translating a WIP can be a waste of time when things are constantly changing
And sometimes supporters just like communicating with the dev.
Therefore, release is more important because it has better chances of being localized. Not every update has an H-scene, and people that want to play early are mostly looking for those (sadly).

For western games, all updates are playable upon release because they’re written in English. We don't need to wait for someone to translate or patch things. If it's out, it's out.

That being said, people do ask when things are going to release more than updates. It’s extremely hard to get subscribers. People see a few bad eggs earn tons of money for semi-annual updates and suddenly all developers are lumped in with the same label. Which makes it really hard for us devs who DO rely on crowdfunding to develop and finish our games. :(

On the topic of your game in particular, I must say that I don’t really understand why Heartsworn Abyss starts the way it does.

From what I remember the first section introduced a Stalker/Rape situation before the MC really gets introduced. I’m aware at least that now the MC has been included in the most recent update.

Why did you start things in that way? And at what point (in terms of updates) do you think we’ll reach the main corruption narrative?

Eastern developers still believe in releasing a finished product, whereas western gaming as a whole has fully succumbed to the plague of absolutely everything being early access
Actually the graveyard of unfinished JP games here (and on ci-en) show that dev hell is very real for both cultures. :ROFLMAO:
Since this is an EN forum, by nature it will have more EN games and commentary. There are like a ton of obscure JP games that never see the light of day. Whereas every 0.1 AI game under the sun still gets uploaded here.

Heya!

It was meant to be a homage to JP NTR games, where it’s common to see a woman in a mid-fallen state before starting at the very beginning. In a way, it builds intrigue and an impending sense of dread. JRPG games like Trails also used this "mid-game to prologue" tactic, which I guess also confused some players at that time.

I still like the prologue very much, however I would probably make the clues much more explicit next time around.

I’d like you to think of the prologue as a nightmare, and that Akari’s fate is still up in the air at that point. With modern AI technologies, it’s very easy to splice voices into recordings, and I assume Akari will bring up that defence (whether you trust her is another matter). I will also add that Akari’s luggage was stolen in Chapter 1, a detail some people overlook. :3

We will get to that scene eventually, but there is a lot of other corruption going on in the process, and not just involving Gon!
