When WAS the last time someone reminded Critical that to call himself a publisher he has to actually publish things?

Imo, at the rate things are going, the main issue isn't that they're losing the audience's trust or interest in the game, but rather that they're starting to bite the dust.
Other developers are putting games that are frankly more better drawn, animated and have better game mechanics than the game CB should've released by now. Look at "Neighbor's Wife - Forgetting Herself Next to Her Husband". Look at Tiramisu's recent and next works. Everyone is improving upon the things that would have been in this promised game, only by the time this thing gets actually released, it's going to be underwhelming.
