After copying saves to the new folder, I found I was able to load from v0.18, but not once the actual competition began. So I loaded in the classroom where the competition was announced, and that save allowed me to play forward. If you have something like that, you might have more success loading. If you didn't save during that classroom scene, you might try going to automatic saves (the A page of saves) and see if there's something there that's from around that same point.

I've been playing 0.18 catching up (last time I played, it was 0.10). Did this because I (foolishly) thought all of the retro-shit causing replays was over. I just finished the "Lyra and friends" segment and suspect the classroom bit you refer to is coming soon.

Should I simply save as soon as I get to the competition announcement scene, then DL 0.19, import and go? Just trying to avoid more retracing the same steps I've gone over several times before.

FYI, this is part of the reason why I always create way more saves than I realistically should need in a game. It gives me a lot more options for loading to try to rescue an existing playthrough rather than starting totally over.

I haven't played the new update yet, and haven't bothered looking into copying over the saves.

Anyone know if all the missing content has been added yet? I remember there were a good few options you could click but get told the content for that choice wasn't ready yet. If those have been solved, it might well be worth start the game from the start again

Nah - I was just confirming what I intended to do shouldn't be an issue and we already covered that in the more appropriate spot. I'm guessing the other guy might be trying to migrate unmodded saves. Don't know if that would be an issue the way you do mods, but I know it was with someone else.

For those that have had trouble with the Shawnchapp migration, I can confirm that a v0.18 save, even one saved before the end of the chapter, migrates just fine from v0.18 to v0.19.

My v0.18 saves (saved yesterday afternoon) were from a replay from the beginning of v0.18 using the SC Mod, and opened just fine today and allowed playthrough without incident. I'm playing on a PC, so Mac and Android users may have problems simply due to using those platforms.

If you're having trouble, I'd suspect you either have somehow corrupted your saves, or have saves using the other mod or no mod, which can effect things.

What doesn't carry over is the unlocked gallery images, and the images that wouldn't open before still won't open doing a speed run (yes, I did a couple on different route variants to check). There also seems to be a scene that didn't carry over: underwear check. I didn't see it during the speed runs and the gallery images triggered by that scene in v0.18 didn't trigger in v0.19. You also have to skip unseen text since your persistent file was created before all references to "school" or "girl" or whatever else was altered for Steam was in the VN. Most probably know all of this, but some still seemed to be having trouble.

The vast majority of adult-only Steam games cannot be bought at all; their store pages return an error in Germany and you need an external search engine to even find out that elsewhere they are available on Steam. They just do not want a 10 year old kid playing Rust or Tarkov or other games for mature persons. But steam thought it is easier to region-block all 18+ games and lose profit in that region....

You are writing this from the user perspective. From the perspective of Steam, they would have to implement special code to distinguish between adults and verified adults, and they would have to implement a special verification system that only exists in Germany. And that might not even be enough. There is no guarantee that the person actually using a PC or Steam Deck is the account owner themselves rather than their child or younger sibling. What they have chosen to do instead is forgo a relatively small amount of profit and save all this effort and risk, while indirectly exerting pressure on the German government to be less strict -- or push for a uniform solution for the entire European Union, which it would actually make sense to implement. Meanwhile, German Steam users who really want to buy adult only games can find someone in another European country who buys it for them, for example from Austria.

As to 'lazy' developers: The presence of some old games on Steam is basically just passive income. The developer is not doing anything with the game any more other than (if required) pay tax on the revenue they are getting from Steam. Maybe they do not even have access to their developer account any more. Or maybe all emails from Steam get deleted automatically, or go to an email account they never log in to. So they either don't learn about the problem, or can't fix it without too much effort.

The underlying problem here is unreasonable demands from the German government. Requiring the developer of a normal classical roguelike or even solitaire program to fill in a special form just for the German market is insane. This would be problematic even for actual adult games, but when it's so obviously not even a borderline case it's just a malicious trade barrier. And requiring extra strict age verification of a kind that only exists in a single country is also not appropriate.

By the way, even from the user perspective it's not that easy. My recent experience with Postident has been that if you want it to be relatively easy you absolutely need a smartphone (I lived most of the recent decade without one, for reasons of psychological health), and even then you need to install an app to get it done in approximately 5 minutes. Of course this also means that you can assume that from then on some Internet-facing server, likely to be hacked at some point, is going to store data connecting your name, address, date of birth, email address and mobile phone number. Enough to steal your identity once that server is hacked, which seems inevitable.

Finding old versions is the only thing that lewdzone.com is good for. In this particular case they haven't found 0.19 yet, but even in general they don't throw away the links to older versions. In this case they even still have links to version 0.4, although unsurprisingly none of them is working any more.

For those who are having save problems, because of the change in the name of the game, I who usually leave more than 20 different saves in the game (usually about the choices) I used a save in the fifth or fourth before the last one and it worked, different from the one described on Patreon, but it really worked
