They don't even tell you how many cuda cores are in the RTX 4000. I'm assuming the expensive monster is the one with 4,000+ cores, so you're getting a bump of 5 MB VRAM and what - an extra 500 or so cores for a near $1500 premium?

According to Nvidia's statements, Turing, this new architecture, should be 25 times faster than Pascal. Let's wait for the first benchmarks to get a better idea, but for the first time in a long time, I'm impatient.

I hear you, but how long does it take for the improvements on the chipset to roll down to low rent rendering engines like Iray or Octane? They say it'll come with a new software stack, but at least from an Iray perspective, functional upgrades aren't what you'd call agile.

Back on point, though, we should be hearing about the RTX 2080s next week maybe? There's already some leaking benchmarks for it, but no sense getting excited about cards without driver optimizations. From what I've been seeing, the 2080s are only supposed to have 8GB of VRAM though... and no 1080Tis on the immediate horizon from what I've read.

That being said, yeah there will certainly a demand for a faster xx80Ti. Mostly people that don't want to shell out 2-10 grand for a single graphics card but still want a decent card for rendering, etc.

Also, we have an (alleged) benchmark leak for the 2060 5gb...

Short form, 11 GB GDDR 6, 616 GB/sec bandwidth (1080Ti has 480 GB/Sec), 4352 Turing cores.

IMHO they should have at least went with 12GB (since the Quadro cards have lots more than that), but at least the memory bandwidth is almost 50% faster. More VRAM would also have been helpful for multi-4K monitor setups.

The speculation is that these will launch at around $800 US, not including any impending new tarriffs (for the US folks) that may be coming online.

Supposedly, these will launch in the next week or two. We'll see if the reviewers have already received them soon I guess...

I'm seeing a bunch of GTX 1080Tis for less than $700 right now. Those prices should drop even further once the RTX 20xx cards start hitting the retail chain.

So the next few weeks look to be a good time to do a graphics card upgrade, once the new cards are available for purchase. I'm sensing some killer deals on current gen cards, which could be awesome for those looking for a multi-GPU setup on a budget.

It'll all depend on just how good the new Nvidia cards end up being of course!

Anyways, so the short form.

The RTX 20xxs are fast, suggested retail $499 for RTX 2070 8 GB, $699 for RTX 2080GB , and $999 for RTX 2080Ti 11 GB.
* Note: some sites are reporting the 2070 at $599...

Now the bad news...

These won't hit retail store shelves until September 20th (a month from today)... I'm guessing the reviews won't show up until around then either.

I'm not understanding what you mean by 'float friendly'.

Jensen Huang did say that the 2070 was faster than a 1080 (he may have said 1080Ti)...

I agree. While Team Red is about useless for Iray, everything I've read so far about AMD's next high end consumer/gaming card says 16 GB at 7nm, which probably won't hit the shelves until the first part of next year.

At the moment, the 16 GB Quadro 4000 card is what has my attention. At $2300, for me, it'll depend on just how well it can outperform the 2080 Ti, i.e. am I better off with 2 2080 Ti's or 1 quadro 4000?

Or, the long form of that statement, the 'yeah, how much faster are 2 2080 Ti's than the Quadro' vs. 'but I get more ram and get rid of the stupid WDM Windows 10 18% memory tax with the Quadro' comparison.
