So it's probable that there are some similar enough species that can make full on hybrids with each other while there are others that dominate or have more of a cointoss which parent the kid will take after.

For example, we know that orcs have a higher chance of sucessfully imregnating women from other species. There are several depictions where orcs are a conquering force that always makes more orcs when breeding with others, meaning the horde doesn't get dilluted by mixing with their conquests.

I hope SadCat goes the way of true hybrids in terms of physical appearance. Anything else (even if it does make more sense genetics-wise) would feel like just copy-pasting assets - I want to see Kat's DNA and the bull's DNA expressed in her child (if we get to see it displayed).

most fantasy stories make the children look like the father or the mother. so if the orc and kat had a kid, they would just be an orc or a felinid. I think that's the best way to do it too, since hybridization brings up a lot of questions about continuous interbreeding and potential problems for children of incompatible species. Though a neat quirk could be the felinid children with orc parents would be stronger/bigger than purebred nekos.

To be fair, isn't the constant reassurance crucial for NTS? Since, you know, the whole point of it is that it is consensual and reliant on the main couple's shared desires in the act rather than being one-sided. If there is no constant reassurance and consent, then it would just be bordering on NTR... Though I guess balancing it is the challenge, to not make the wholesome parts of it start to be annoying or boring limiting the scenarios, but still not phase them out completely that it circles back to just being NTR disguising as NTS.

Constant reassurance can actually create suspicion. It may imply that a couple doesn't really trust each other in their NTS play.

At the start, a significant amount of reassurance feels natural. However, if that need for reassurance continues to grow over time, it may give off the impression that something isn't right in the relationship.

But then again, that's just my perspective. There are many people who think quite the opposite.
