I agree with what you say... regarding AAA games.
The issue here (and when I say "here", I'm referring to this game in particular, but also to dozens other with the same business model) is that.. they are not AAA games.
The business model for most of these games is to develop them through a certain time period, with regular updates. Then, the monetisation is mainly through Patreon; more "radical" games (such as Nympho Tamer) will have to chose other platforms; and "softer" games can even be published on Steam.
But the main business model is this: give supporters on Patreon early access to the updates – that will be available for everyone eventually, and for free!
Also: AAA games are mostly made by big companies with big budgets; most games here are made by... ONE dev that needs support from Patreons (or similar platforms). But you think both are comparable. Sure...
