Damn... I wrote a review for this back in 0.25, which was already far into the game's life cycle.
To see that it's been reduced to a Sandbox game on a new engine is just sad, and I frankly don't even trust Techno anymore to properly re-implement the story now.
It wasn't an amazing Story or anything, but at least it added a red line for the player to know where to go, what areas to work off first - now I'm more busy reading up guides and comments regarding the smallest bits of content, like rescuing the Adventurer from the Volcano area which took me a solid one hour to even figure out when it first came out.
This Dev has so many ideas and so little motivation to actually power through on implementing them. Dice roll systems that are largely unused, insanity / sanity systems that mean nothing in the greater context, and worst of all, an almost unhealthy obsession with making Yarizo the main character of every scene. It's like the thought never crossed Techno that Yarizo is a divisive character that some people actually kill, an option HE added to the game, so dedicating this much time giving him NTR scenes over developing the Story is just insane to me.
Yarizo is like one of those CYOA Fanfics that people write where the first option leads to a half-finished idea sheet and the second option is an Yggdrasil tree of choices solely dedicated to fucking Yarizo.
Even if the Story gets readded now, I feel like the damage has been done already with no way back. There's so many optional areas now, most of which have zero story relevance, that Techno won't hold himself back from simply trailing off into making more irrelevant side quests now.
And like the total lack of a red line wasn't bad enough, he had the idea to let you switch to Iris and write an entire story for HER too - something that completely backfires again because neither the main story OR her story progresses at all in this turtle speed development process.
I don't condone blatantly stealing someone's work and reselling it online, but it's an extremely telling sign that Techno struck gold with a pickaxe, handed the pickaxe to the miner next to him and began brushing the veins with a toothbrush instead of harvesting them. Kind of ironic, he's being cucked out of developing his own game while people MORE WILLING to make his game are stealing the revenue right from underneath his nose.
The only other game I know that trailed off this bad must've been Alansya Chronicles, which suffered the exact same problems when the game suddenly introduced a billion uninteresting characters and added an overwhelmingly large amount of updates dedicated to only one character.
