I guess I was part of this problem as well.
"The dude" has a team of developers to pay.The dude is pulling in 18k a month (pre-cut) on patreon alone, not counting subscribestar and pay-per-update itch.
*One* update being leaked a couple weeks early isn't gonna put him on foodstamps, people. Chill out all around.
I think that the fact there is a pay to play early method is a good way to keep monitoring the interest in the game, while also allowing the developers to afford to eat and pay some bills while spending time on development. We do not, in point of fact, live in a vacuum where there are no responsibilities and financial obligations. The options are to either work while juggling work and development time, which results in extremely limited time to spare on development (which oft results in stalls and/or abandoned games), or rely on some stratagems like pay to play early, which (in the case of successful game development) allows a more even stride in development, at the cost of greater stress to meet deadlines and expectations. It is a bit of a spectrum of juggling what they do, and what is demanded of them IRL, and by fans and critics. I happen to have a lot of respect for artists and developers, especially those whom tolerate sites like here, and even participate in the discussions. The very fact that you have to pay to play earlier is the problem. I would understand if it was a one time thing, but not with every update.
Frankly, offering early access to updates is the least a developer can do while requesting money, anything less is just a tipjar.I think that the fact there is a pay to play early method is a good way to keep monitoring the interest in the game, while also allowing the developers to afford to eat and pay some bills while spending time on development. You know what im not downloading this time. I hope you and your team rech your goals. But please dude 17,99 $ isnt it too much for everyone just think about it. As a software engineer I understand you can't name a price on your project but isnt it too pricey please be honest. This is the dumbest thing I've heard all day and I say that after spending a whole day with your mother.
Games on steam earn 10 times what I get on Patreon and if my game was on Steam I'd be currently on a yacht on bermudas with my team. Steam doesn't show the revenue and because people can't see it they cannot be enraged about it. People like you are the reason why so many big developers hide their revenue on Patreon.
Let me pick a random nsfw recently released game on steam. Let's go with Aurelia. They released just 5 days ago and have 290 reviews.

Plugging in the price and review count into the calculator we get 30k. I've talked to many devs who are on steam and according to them this calculator underestimates for nsfw games(Less people leave reviews) by a factor of 5-10. Let's take the lower number.
That's still 150k$ in 5 days.
If you think we seriously failed to get on steam purposely to get money on Patreon after seeing this you are a delusional idiot.
On a serious note, I dislike the subscription model too. It is inherently predatory on the fact that people forget about subscriptions. Unfortunately currently this is what we have to go with to pay the bills. We already have plans for future games and those will be focused on getting on steam. Patreon only seems so good, because you have no comparison and no knowledge about how any of this works.
It's okay. You can play it early. Just don't come to our discord and ask for help about the game you pirated or I will crush your balls.
It's also dumb as if you did somehow intentionally get the game blacklisted on steam, like obviously you have that kind of pull with valve and what they put on their store. This is the dumbest thing I've heard all day and I say that after spending a whole day with your mother.

I know its not fair to compare you and your team with a gigantic game company devs but think as gamer this time. Luv you and your job.
Oh ok sorry for misunderstand and im happy with we agreed on patreon subs are blood sucking leech ^^. See you on january at discord.I wasn't talking about my game's price. Those are the numbers for Aurelia.
Oi, pinprick, let us finger her and grab her boobies outside of sex pliz. I want some way to get her ultra horny without having to start the whole sequence only to immediately end it.I wasn't talking about my game's price. Those are the numbers for Aurelia.
Gog is nothing compared to steam. Gog's revenue is in millions of dollars. Steam's in billions. There are games on steam that earn more than whole gog.Oh ok sorry for misunderstand and im happy with we agreed on patreon subs are blood sucking leech ^^. See you on january at discord.
Edit: Patreon comapre to steam etc. Also have ever tried release on gog ??
