You do know that this business model is just to support the dev since the public release is just locked behind time, right?
What you're saying would only apply if someone published a game, and then paywalled any and all future additions with them never being publicly released.
Those who want to support the developer will do so without such low manipulation on his part.

The very fact that you have to pay to play earlier is the problem. I would understand if it was a one time thing, but not with every update.
Look my dude, I don't agree with the business model either, which is why I wait till the free release instead of paying every time. However, your rant makes it seem like the dev is some capitalistic business magnate who is out to screw the poor or something. The dev is offering early access for a fee, and if you don't agree with it or can't afford it (like myself and many others) just... just don't give him money? And if you're fine with waiting a few weeks for the free release, then wait. If not, then pirate it from here. Going into a long rant about how the dev is a horrible human being is a bit extreme

That wasn't my original point. It was that his pattern of behavior is not very successful. This situation is repeated every time and instead of taking offense every time that on the pirate site posted his game and gloat when they managed to ban the one who did it, in my opinion very strange, it would be better if he reconsidered his attitude to this. There's no way he can stop it anyway.
Especially there are more successful distribution models and ways to make money on early access. Yes they can be a bit difficult to implement.
As for the developer, you are right, I think he is not conscientious in this regard. And in this case I don't feel any remorse that I got the game earlier than the author intended. Like I said I'm willing to buy this game, but I'll only do it once.

The dude is pulling in 18k a month (pre-cut) on patreon alone, not counting subscribestar and pay-per-update itch.
*One* update being leaked a couple weeks early isn't gonna put him on foodstamps, people. Chill out all around.

"The dude" has a team of developers to pay.

I don’t know how to feel about this one. I really like the game, and I would pay for the early access if I wasn’t in crippling debt from school. But I also won’t download it until the dev’s grace period concludes. The least I can do is honor their wishes.

P.S. I don’t care what others do. I just wanted to share my opinion.

I think that the fact there is a pay to play early method is a good way to keep monitoring the interest in the game, while also allowing the developers to afford to eat and pay some bills while spending time on development. We do not, in point of fact, live in a vacuum where there are no responsibilities and financial obligations. The options are to either work while juggling work and development time, which results in extremely limited time to spare on development (which oft results in stalls and/or abandoned games), or rely on some stratagems like pay to play early, which (in the case of successful game development) allows a more even stride in development, at the cost of greater stress to meet deadlines and expectations. It is a bit of a spectrum of juggling what they do, and what is demanded of them IRL, and by fans and critics. I happen to have a lot of respect for artists and developers, especially those whom tolerate sites like here, and even participate in the discussions.

So far, the update's a banger. However, my main gripe is that I can't use the mouse for the cooking minigame.
Only left click works for pressing Z. You still need to press X for the other thing. If right click could be used for this as well, it'd be much 'preciated.
