VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Once in a Lifetime [v1.0] [Caribdis]

It's a nice coming together of different elements;

1. The models look excellent and each one unique enough
2. The animations equally look very good and are not reused over and over again
3. The story has nice mystery, horror and well-paced comedy, to keep it all fresh
4. The game is very contained, which leads to nicely fleshed-out characters and relationships

Take it for what you will, but to me it seems to be hidden pearl, I am excited to see how this game will end and what other stories this Dev will tell.

An excellent game without a doubt, I even wonder not having met him before.
The game has quite an innovative story compared to others similar to it. He knows how to develop and reach the most important points. In addition, the author divided it into dependence on the antagonist and the development of one of the characters so it is very easy to follow.
As far as playability I have no complaints, it is what is expected of this type of games.
The characters are one of the best things about the game. The protagonist is like any harem protagonist, but at least this one has a different hairstyle. The other characters are not extremely ambitious but they don't disappoint and they thrive.
The graphics are pretty good and the animations are too.
The content is another of the strong points of the game, since it has a lot.
I did not detect any bugs in everything I played, which is more than fantastic.
The female characters are hot, cute, and sexy. Everything you can ask for.
I loved the humor, especially the one referring to Jack and Tom (I think they were called that) and also the one about the prison lord.
Anyway, very good game that I regret not having met before and I wish the author the best. I have planned (after asking some questions to those who have been following this project for a long time) to support the author and see if he gains some more fame. I think it should be known more being one of the games with the best ratings on the page.

Full disclosure, patron here, so I'm obviously going to give this a good review, but I wouldn't sub if the game wasn't of the quality that it is. The basic plot you can get from the description, so I won't go into that here. OiaLT is a fairly linear VN, which may be a good or bad thing, depending on the individual, but it works very well with this game.

Pros:
- Excellent and intelligent humor (pay attention to activities in the background at all times)
- Well developed characters with distinct personalities
- Varied settings and moods, from scenes for pure laughs, to tense horror scenes
- Interesting plot that is leading to a clear conclusion
- Well done animation and very attractive character models
- Lewds, lewds, lewds
- Great use of sound and music to set the tone of various scenes
- MC that actually has some personality and isn't just there to "interact" with the ladies
- Each update is very polished with very few bugs
- Stabby Mike

Cons:
- It's almost complete (could be a pro or con, but it will be sad to say goodbye to the characters)
- Not much else, really

All in all, a hidden gem of a game that deserves more attention. On a side note, the dev, Caribdis, is very active on his Discord channel and open with his communication. The community there is also very chill and really reflects well the feeling of the game and the dev.

Great game, one of my favorites so far. Great characters and interesting story. H-scenes are good and diverse too. It's still being made but theres a lot of content so far and the developer seems to be really active.

The characters are very likeable, the obligatory "must be gritty" plot is actually pretty fun, and the sex is hot. The MC is a likeable idiot instead of just a regular idiot, and the minigames are surprisingly tolerable. Well worth the download.

Gameplay: simple and enjoyable, with plenty of choice. And rightfully punishes and ruins your day if you pick the obvious bad choice (shame on you if you know from experience).

Humor: very entertaining, I caught myself laughing quite a few times, and doesn't break immersion or feel out of place.

Tone: Dark but enjoyable dark, not sexually dark like some games are where they go overboard and think they need dark sexual shit to have a dark tone. (Batman doesn't need to go around murdering constantly to be a dark character for example).

Choice: Yes. Stabby Mike is a must.

Sex scenes: Your dick will turn red. (animations... creampie... need I say more?)

Characters: Many, quite the variety, and they got the thiccness for my sickness (apologies). Judie is bestgirl... and so is Lauren... and Carla... and Iris... all are bestgirl.

MC: Not a braindead idiot... need I say more?

Side characters: Fit Jack... Stabby Mike... Dildo Boy.... Troy... very entertaining. You should aim to keep them around.

Story: quite deep and complex, with a lot of mystery, and depending on your choices even trippy.

Punishing?: only if you pick the obvious "never pick this choice you monster" choice. and well... if you pick it.. you deserve what comes next... that is all.

No seriously that is all, review is over. game is very enjoyable and quite a lot of fun.

quality all around: writing, visuals, humour. emphasis on humour, unappreciated in these things. choices matter, always important. fun story, plenty hot. would have to invent complaints. one of the best. 5/5 tom is a good friend.

the best visual novel I ever played,DON'T MISS IT, everything is balanced, interesting story, not boring like many other games.
Just one thing: there is to much to lost if you play it without walkthrough, so make sure you're using it or you have to double the gameplay time.

This game... The renders might not be the most realistic ones, but they're fine and the animations are also a nice touch.

But the story - the story is where this game really shines in my opinion. II had a few literal laugh out loud moments so far, and I'm not even done with what's available (still on first incomplete playthrough), but even what I've seen so far puts this game's writing above most others - you just gotta try it!

That chinese song was top notch.

Five stars for excellence. This game truly is just that, it’s an excellent piece of work. I’ve always been a huge mystery and comedy fan and to this day I haven’t played a visual novel that has hit all the right spots for me quite like OiaLT does. The story is from the start has been one of the best I’ve seen in a vn and has kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what’s going to come next. I love the randomness in the hilarious moments of brilliant comedic genius and the tonal changes to the darker and scarier moments. All of this and I haven’t mentioned one of the most important parts, the characters. Each girl has their own appeal and even though I have my favourites the others are still among my top girls across all vns. Even without this dimension you have a wonderfully written mystery story with great comedic moments and side characters and a truly outstanding experience from start to current end, but with the relationships and the strengths of all the characters and the scenes it has quickly become my top game and I’m very excited to see what comes in this coming update. Overall a great game.

The story is quite unique, which is a refreshing thing in itself. Add on top of that the excellent writing, interesting characters and character interaction, funny jokes and situations that actually make you laugh, and the subtle stuff and attention to detail that is missing from too many other games out there.

There is also the matter that the game doesn't take itself too seriously, after all we're just here to have a good time, and the decisions are easy to interpret and do what you expect them to do.

I especially like the creative use of transitions, closeup shots, inverted colors to convey emotion and so on.

I can only recommend! Can't wait to see what happens next!

One of the best of this genre i played so far. The mix of tension, humor and horniness alongside with charismatic and unique characters makes this a great game, that also brings to the table fluid story telling, very well balanced models and animations. Certainly worth a playtrough, wich turns into a pleasant experience. Looking forward to the next updates.

This game has great pacing, an aesthetically pleasing art style, enrapturing story, and just the right amount of lewd. I love choice based games like this that give you the ability to do what you want to. can't wait to see what the end of the game brings!

Finally got round to playing and finished this game and I must say it's the funniest game I have ever played. Made me laugh out loud many times. Was slow to get into it at first but after there was no turning back.

Hilarious! Of course I am Team Lauren all the way and many moments that I really enjoyed from stabby mike to picking up soap to getting shot in the face.

The gameshow was a complete ruckus and that scene on the train where you catch a dude with a dildo is legendary.

A game that doesn't take itself too seriously and if you're looking for a jolly good time, you should play this game for sure. Gaining lots of recognition but still massively underrated, this is definitely a Once in a Lifetime experience.

There isn't an adult game which is perfect and this one is definitely not one of them but wherever the game feels like it loses that perfect status it makes up for it with other segments and story beats which make you forget anything you might have disliked about it at a time. The girls are amazingly hot and the H scenes are some of the best I've seen with multiple angles to compliment a mood or position which adds a level of immersion that you don't see a lot.

I'm also a fan of adult game which offer a decent action adventure type setting as well and this game does have that!

If you haven't played this game yet then you're really missing out. I've played around 50-60 porn games and very few of them compare to the fun I had playing this. The girls are hot and very well written along with all the other characters in the game (Jasmine is bae). The story is really engaging/exciting but also really funny which is something I look for in these games and the comedy has yet to be matched by any others I've played.

If I had to think of a negative it would be that a lot of the girls look really similar to each other. This might've been a design choice since some of them are related but even some of the ones that aren't related look alike too. Also, there's not enough Stabby Mike so please give me more Stabby Mike.

In my opinion, this game is easily a 5/5 but I also want to say that the developer is awesome. They're very active in the discord and puts out consistent updates. If I could give this game more stars I would but instead I'll just subscribe to the patreon. Can't wait to see what Caribdis does next!

For the gameplay is your typical visual novel game with some quiz and trivia, it works very well.
In the end I say that this is one of the best game on this site, play it and support the author, you won’t regret it, and I am looking forward for his next game if there will be one.

This is one of the gems that people will try to copy and replicate, very loved, very funny and never taking itself seriously so the team working on it can have fun developing the game.

Hopefully everything stays onto this same path to greatness
