VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Once in a Lifetime [v1.0] [Caribdis]

Five stars for excellence. This game truly is just that, it’s an excellent piece of work. I’ve always been a huge mystery and comedy fan and to this day I haven’t played a visual novel that has hit all the right spots for me quite like OiaLT does. The story is from the start has been one of the best I’ve seen in a vn and has kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what’s going to come next. I love the randomness in the hilarious moments of brilliant comedic genius and the tonal changes to the darker and scarier moments. All of this and I haven’t mentioned one of the most important parts, the characters. Each girl has their own appeal and even though I have my favourites the others are still among my top girls across all vns. Even without this dimension you have a wonderfully written mystery story with great comedic moments and side characters and a truly outstanding experience from start to current end, but with the relationships and the strengths of all the characters and the scenes it has quickly become my top game and I’m very excited to see what comes in this coming update. Overall a great game.

The story is quite unique, which is a refreshing thing in itself. Add on top of that the excellent writing, interesting characters and character interaction, funny jokes and situations that actually make you laugh, and the subtle stuff and attention to detail that is missing from too many other games out there.

There is also the matter that the game doesn't take itself too seriously, after all we're just here to have a good time, and the decisions are easy to interpret and do what you expect them to do.

I especially like the creative use of transitions, closeup shots, inverted colors to convey emotion and so on.

I can only recommend! Can't wait to see what happens next!

One of the best of this genre i played so far. The mix of tension, humor and horniness alongside with charismatic and unique characters makes this a great game, that also brings to the table fluid story telling, very well balanced models and animations. Certainly worth a playtrough, wich turns into a pleasant experience. Looking forward to the next updates.

This game has great pacing, an aesthetically pleasing art style, enrapturing story, and just the right amount of lewd. I love choice based games like this that give you the ability to do what you want to. can't wait to see what the end of the game brings!

Finally got round to playing and finished this game and I must say it's the funniest game I have ever played. Made me laugh out loud many times. Was slow to get into it at first but after there was no turning back.

Hilarious! Of course I am Team Lauren all the way and many moments that I really enjoyed from stabby mike to picking up soap to getting shot in the face.

The gameshow was a complete ruckus and that scene on the train where you catch a dude with a dildo is legendary.

A game that doesn't take itself too seriously and if you're looking for a jolly good time, you should play this game for sure. Gaining lots of recognition but still massively underrated, this is definitely a Once in a Lifetime experience.

There isn't an adult game which is perfect and this one is definitely not one of them but wherever the game feels like it loses that perfect status it makes up for it with other segments and story beats which make you forget anything you might have disliked about it at a time. The girls are amazingly hot and the H scenes are some of the best I've seen with multiple angles to compliment a mood or position which adds a level of immersion that you don't see a lot.

I'm also a fan of adult game which offer a decent action adventure type setting as well and this game does have that!

If you haven't played this game yet then you're really missing out. I've played around 50-60 porn games and very few of them compare to the fun I had playing this. The girls are hot and very well written along with all the other characters in the game (Jasmine is bae). The story is really engaging/exciting but also really funny which is something I look for in these games and the comedy has yet to be matched by any others I've played.

If I had to think of a negative it would be that a lot of the girls look really similar to each other. This might've been a design choice since some of them are related but even some of the ones that aren't related look alike too. Also, there's not enough Stabby Mike so please give me more Stabby Mike.

In my opinion, this game is easily a 5/5 but I also want to say that the developer is awesome. They're very active in the discord and puts out consistent updates. If I could give this game more stars I would but instead I'll just subscribe to the patreon. Can't wait to see what Caribdis does next!

- Incredible writing with an humor that is so exceptional that I thought about even weeks after I played the game

- The character are all fantastic, from the main ones to the side characters, everyone is unique in his own way.
Even a Man that has three lines of dialogue in entire game is memorable

- Very interesting story with great pacing between comedy, action, drama and horror

- Really great sex scenes

- Cons

- Sometimes the graphic is blurry

- It’s still not finished

For the gameplay is your typical visual novel game with some quiz and trivia, it works very well.
In the end I say that this is one of the best game on this site, play it and support the author, you won’t regret it, and I am looking forward for his next game if there will be one.

This is one of the gems that people will try to copy and replicate, very loved, very funny and never taking itself seriously so the team working on it can have fun developing the game.

Such a perfect game. Been following it since the early development stage. Aka the blue balls stage. The same stage many of the games suffer from. Heres what this game does not suffer from.

---PROS---
- Honey select model done well. Look nothing like any other model on this site.
- High Climatic, Smoothly framed, Multiple angle, Multiple facial expression sex scenes. GREAT ANIMATIONS
- Penetration in a porn game. I know that seems like a low bar and weird on a site like this but believe it or not there are devs on this site who literally produce porn games with NO PORN yet think thats a good thing. There are also fanboys who defend them but I wont get into that
- Thicc petite main love interests. Curvy, sexy....and....and TWINS. Decent MILFs as well
- Fun story. Not breath taking but not too serious or boring. Just enough to keep the reader hooked although I was mostly there for the porn. CTRL Skip did happen in some parts.
- YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PENIS IN THE UNIVERSE! All my 5 Stars reviews get this right. Doesnt mean you're not getting any action or playing a cuck simulator getting cucked all day because thats ridiculous. Definitely not my cup of tea and to each their cucky own. But it does mean there are other males and you cant be a jerk to these hotties and still expect them to want to bang you afterwards. Has a touch of realism that doesnt break the immersion. There are also elements of actual threats and dangers to the girl from crummy villains since you arent the only penis. Best of all, You have the option of banging one of these hotties in secret while one of their Dads is looking for her. That only happens through the magic of a harem done right. Yes, btw, you can still have your harem.
- Dev is responsive and not a pompous asshole. Accepts criticism and tries to improve his work by listening to feedback.
- Update schedule is decent and the content is plentiful with each update.

---CONS---
- Just being nitpicky. While there is no sandbox element (which is an absolute plus), without a walkthrough on certain parts you would be completely LOST.
- Just being nitpicky AGAIN. Missed opportunity with the Mom and Daughter while watching a movie. At least revisit that scenario. Tons of possibilities there.
- Now that we have penetration can we have some faster rougher sex please.

Might be the best game I've played on this site. At first I thought it was going to be a generic "your hot mom and sisters throwing themselves at you" type game (which is fine), but it's so much more than that. The writing is great, there are some genuinely hilarious moments, and the characters are so likeable and behave like you would expect real people to. The character art (I actually like the eyes) and sex scenes are great and fit really well into the pacing of the story. Highly recommended.

This game kept me entertained for hours. The charachters behave and speak like real people which enhances your immersion. The houmor is quite funny and wil make burst of laughter and you wont find this kind laughter in many other famous adult games. The story is worth reading beacuse it will make your mind to qoustion many things of ther story.

Simply amazing! The story is pretty good and the characters unique and likeable! I put it up there with Waifu Academy in terms of humor. I can't get enough! The slapstick and the recurring characters!
The girls are cute and the scenes are great! Can't wait to see how it all unfurls, and how much weight some of the choices end up having down the road!
Edit: Now that the game is complete, I am happy to say that just about everything happened as I had hoped it would, even down to some quite minute details. One of my favorites for sure!

Despite the fact the game is already fairly well known,
it is still wildly underrated.

There are very few games on this website that can match this game on quality. The writing is really good. Every character is multi-dimensional and the buildup of the relationships feel natural and fleshed out.

Everything just makes sense within the universe, there are no sudden pacing problems that almost every other game on the site struggle with. The H scenes are amazing, high quality and animated.

Every girl is beautiful with a unique personality.

Plot writing 10/10.
Environmental storytelling 10/10.
Dialogue writing 10/10.
Character development (relationship development) 10/10.
Renders 10/10.
Sound 6/10.

As someone else have mentioned, the only thing the game is lacking is sufficent use of sound. Most of the game will be played in silence.

**Updated review to give sound a 6 after chapter 9. Use of sound improved a lot at this point.

**If I could give this 6 stars out of five I would. After chapter 9, I can with certainty say I've never seen any game execute on it's concept as well as this have on this site. It might not be the most ambitious in terms of gameplay, but it couldn't have done a better job within it's ambition.

The characters are interesting. The dialogs are somewhat funny at times. Graphics are also nice in general. Keep up the good work.
Note: I have experienced game freeze a few times, and had to restart the browser and loaded the last saved point to continue. So, I would suggest to the developer to incorporate an Auto-Save feature if possible. Otherwise, it is highly recommend for the players to manually save their progress frequently.

Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring for this one - it's a great visual novel and if you're reading reviews trying to figure out if this one is worth your time, it most definitely is. Once in a Lifetime deserves all the attention it gets and more, looking forward to its future!

The Good:
- Girls settings are nice
- Just the right amount of lewd scenes
- Amazing animation


The Bad:
- Rendering on the girls are quite poor (blurry for some reason?), definitely need some polishing (When it comes to these anime/weebish art style, I expecting the level of Waifu Academy, Harem Hotel or Mythic Manor).
- Story was alright originally but the dialogues are too much and draggy.
- MC is fking ugly.


Conclusion:
Girls' art need some rework. Too many dialogues and made me lost interest. 3.5/5.

Good amount of content, if you go slow an read the dialogue with caution its very easy to play for 3-4 hours or more

I will try to make this short because there are a hundred other reviews that have said everything that needs to said, but in short, this is an amazing visual novel.

What makes a great game for me is a well-rounded experience and this delivers and goes beyond. Hmm... where do I start?
Well first and foremost, excellent writing and captivating storytelling. Great balance of plot and erotic scenes. The humor is second to none and had me laughing out loud several times. Well done.
Another thing I really like is the sound. Well placed sound effects and I actually jumped a couple of times because I had my volume cranked up too loud and wasn't paying attention. The quick jump shots with the images along with the sound effects are great for scares and laughs.
Images and Animations are great and keep getting better the further along in the game you get. Nice colors are used to represent the scene.
Creativity is another thing that I kept noticing. Caribdis makes great use of assets and scenes and something I kept noticing while playing.
The characters are adorable. I'm usually more of a Lauren type of guy, but there is something about Judie, and so she is the best girl for me, but I enjoyed all the love interest.
I look forward to future updates and will be sad when we get to the end because it seems we are coming up on the end of the story soon. But I look forward to whatever project Caribdis works on next.
