VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Once in a Lifetime [v1.0] [Caribdis]

Simply amazing! The story is pretty good and the characters unique and likeable! I put it up there with Waifu Academy in terms of humor. I can't get enough! The slapstick and the recurring characters!
The girls are cute and the scenes are great! Can't wait to see how it all unfurls, and how much weight some of the choices end up having down the road!
Edit: Now that the game is complete, I am happy to say that just about everything happened as I had hoped it would, even down to some quite minute details. One of my favorites for sure!

Despite the fact the game is already fairly well known,
it is still wildly underrated.

There are very few games on this website that can match this game on quality. The writing is really good. Every character is multi-dimensional and the buildup of the relationships feel natural and fleshed out.

Everything just makes sense within the universe, there are no sudden pacing problems that almost every other game on the site struggle with. The H scenes are amazing, high quality and animated.

Every girl is beautiful with a unique personality.

Plot writing 10/10.
Environmental storytelling 10/10.
Dialogue writing 10/10.
Character development (relationship development) 10/10.
Renders 10/10.
Sound 6/10.

As someone else have mentioned, the only thing the game is lacking is sufficent use of sound. Most of the game will be played in silence.

**Updated review to give sound a 6 after chapter 9. Use of sound improved a lot at this point.

**If I could give this 6 stars out of five I would. After chapter 9, I can with certainty say I've never seen any game execute on it's concept as well as this have on this site. It might not be the most ambitious in terms of gameplay, but it couldn't have done a better job within it's ambition.

The characters are interesting. The dialogs are somewhat funny at times. Graphics are also nice in general. Keep up the good work.
Note: I have experienced game freeze a few times, and had to restart the browser and loaded the last saved point to continue. So, I would suggest to the developer to incorporate an Auto-Save feature if possible. Otherwise, it is highly recommend for the players to manually save their progress frequently.

Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring for this one - it's a great visual novel and if you're reading reviews trying to figure out if this one is worth your time, it most definitely is. Once in a Lifetime deserves all the attention it gets and more, looking forward to its future!

The Good:
- Girls settings are nice
- Just the right amount of lewd scenes
- Amazing animation


The Bad:
- Rendering on the girls are quite poor (blurry for some reason?), definitely need some polishing (When it comes to these anime/weebish art style, I expecting the level of Waifu Academy, Harem Hotel or Mythic Manor).
- Story was alright originally but the dialogues are too much and draggy.
- MC is fking ugly.


Conclusion:
Girls' art need some rework. Too many dialogues and made me lost interest. 3.5/5.

I will try to make this short because there are a hundred other reviews that have said everything that needs to said, but in short, this is an amazing visual novel.

What makes a great game for me is a well-rounded experience and this delivers and goes beyond. Hmm... where do I start?
Well first and foremost, excellent writing and captivating storytelling. Great balance of plot and erotic scenes. The humor is second to none and had me laughing out loud several times. Well done.
Another thing I really like is the sound. Well placed sound effects and I actually jumped a couple of times because I had my volume cranked up too loud and wasn't paying attention. The quick jump shots with the images along with the sound effects are great for scares and laughs.
Images and Animations are great and keep getting better the further along in the game you get. Nice colors are used to represent the scene.
Creativity is another thing that I kept noticing. Caribdis makes great use of assets and scenes and something I kept noticing while playing.
The characters are adorable. I'm usually more of a Lauren type of guy, but there is something about Judie, and so she is the best girl for me, but I enjoyed all the love interest.
I look forward to future updates and will be sad when we get to the end because it seems we are coming up on the end of the story soon. But I look forward to whatever project Caribdis works on next.

I have to say I'm not a fan of the trivia questions and the exploration bits (both easily doable with the walkthrough mod though^^) but the rest of the game is really great!

The family girls and the side girls are all hot and sweet, the story is good and a lot of funny moments are sprinkled in.

With Incest/Harem/Pregnancy/Virgins it has most of my favorite tags.

Can't wait for more and I hope it gets a lot more updates even when the "main story" is done and mc and the girls can go on to the good life with baby bumps and without mc's dad

great characters, interesting main plot and relationships with funny dialogues and references. 10/10 would join law enforcement with stabby mike again only to abuse that power for the sole purpose of "accidentally" shooting a pedophille and be called a losse cannon by comissioner gordon (but get off scot free since me and batman are homies).

The easiest way to review this game is to say its amazing at everything it tries. The story, the characters and the animations are all some of the best on the site. But special mentions have to go to the comedy. This game is so fucking funny at times, without ever being cheesy or awkward, that it may just be the best in that regard.

This game is great. The girls are gorgeous, have very endearing personalities, and the plot does a really well mix comedy, horror & romance intertwined with the mystery that the MC and the girls need to solve.

Also, development of leading to relationship with each girl doesn't feel rushed and well developed.

Fantastic game which I'm looking forward to seeing how it all ends, and also looking forward to the future games from this Dev.

One of the greatest games on this site, and the funniest. Very referential and has the most laugh out loud moments I've seen in a game. Also you can tell how creative the creator is with how varied his plots are throughout the game, whether it be a Prison, Game Show, Japanese Village, or Spooky English Village. Can't wait to follow this through the end

The well-written story is a constant adventure, with many different locations and enough lightness to keep it from being too dramatic, and the pace, the girls and the mystery will keep you interested.

Great funny moments, parts with effective horror, memorable characters and very regular sexy scenes. Recommended!

It's an amazing VN, combining standard harem fun with strong funny/mystery point&click vibes (think Broken Sword or Monkey Island, you know, the good ones). Writing is great and the graphics really suits lighthearted style of the game (especially facial expressions).
The protagonist is a comedy gold and you will be amazed by the amount of content. It plays pretty much like a kinetic novel, so you won't spend time 'looking for stuff to do', and it still offers hours of fun. Probably one of the best titles you will find here.

Hilarious moments during the story, so for once I am not just spamming space through the cheesy unrealistic "romantic" dialogue. This time it is hilarious.
Only negative thing, is the scenes with Lilith. It is a maze without the walkthrough mod. I'd recommend the developer redoing that scene, so it is less of a hazzle for the player to get through.

All in all though, I really recommend this game. One of the few games, where 80% of the dialogue isn't boring drivel.

Probably one of my favorite games in here. The story is fun, interesting and it does a good job into getting you into the mystery.

There's tons of sex scenes, especially in the later half of the game. How the relationships grow seems a little fast to me, but I guess some people would complain it was slow if it was any other way.

The models are weird at first, but the animations and the expression are so well done that it's a plus for me.

Very good game, actually it surprised me how good it is. The story is also interesting for me. The game is also funny not just trying to be funny. Renders are cool too, maybe the characters look a bit too similar for some but for me it was perfectly fine. I recommend this game!

Well as far as VNs go this game is Premium, here's why!

-The story is well written and with well designed pacing and the H scenes are spread out evenly so it never goes too long without some "action".
-There are some choices to be made and actual game mechanics at some points of the game which breaks the usual "press left click to continue" trend.
-Character interactions and dialogue are great and often hilarious, they are memorable with individual personality traits.
-The character models and animations are gorgeous.

Few complaints: 1: The female characters models while gorgeous are practically indistinguishable if you remove their hair , they all appear to be slight variations of the same model.
2: The MCs penis appears to be an alien entity attached to MCs crotch which is noticeable is some scenes and less so in others, nothing major just weird.
9/10!
