I'm not completely sure what you mean, but I think I have an idea. The game is all written super realistically and in a stream of consciousness manner like that. I'm not a fan of the game you mentioned, not saying it isn't good, just doesn't do anything for me. I know I'm in the minority with that, and I know she is incredibly talented, it's just not my thing.
The inner monologue is fine, the fact that I can read Mary's inner monologue is off-putting for me tho, since most VNs are supposed to be a POV of a certain character.
I have always thought that seeing the thoughts of NPCs ADDS to the narrative. I know some people hate it, but I LOVE it!
That's cool, I don't necessarily think VN's are supposed to be anything. Some are done 3rd person even. But, I'd never tell someone they aren't entitled to like what they like, and I'm with Walter Victor I believe it gives insight you'd not be able to read just by body language all the time. I do it in sex scenes a lot, but I certainly don't abuse it outside of that. IMO in sex scenes it's the only way to do them, unless you just want a bunch of Uh Oh Ah fuck me's in there right jaw1986baby? It was actually him and TD the writer from Pale Carnations who got me to change how I looked at writing my sex scenes, and I feel I was so much the better for it. I don't take many suggestions on how to develop my game, but every now and then some of them just make sense to at least try, and that one worked out.

See I had one dude post in here that it came off like I was "writing a term paper", and you like it. As a dev you are damned if you do and damned if you don't because you'll never please everyone. I saw this so much when I was just a modder. So I made a pledge to myself I was going to create the game I wanted to create how I wanted to create it, and let the chips fall where they may.
Well, I play VNs for a good story and not a quick fap. Most devs and players forgot that the N in VN stands for novel.
With that we are in total agreement. If I'm going to look for that sort of fare, I'm going to porn hub. Not to say the sexual component doesn't enhance the experience of a VN, because I think it's vital to the relationships. But, it needs to be in the context of the game.

Yea, I agree, that's lame too. I can think of about 4 or 5 off the top of my head that do that. One game is super highly rated and I think it's got a BJ and that's it or something. I won't name names because I don't rate games and would never openly disparage another developers work, but I can still have an unspoken opinion.
Well, my game is sort of in a harem style (not in the traditional sense) and if you treat the girls well they're gonna like your dick, but if you don't they won't. However they'll still be flirty and your friend. I couldn't have written this and just cut characters out of it with pathing. All of them are too vital to the story, as you'll see the more you play.
That game has been called out by other devs already I think. Wasn't it Timestamps who did something with Bacon begging the same character model to fuck him, because the dev of the game was shitting on Timestamps? I think I remember that correctly. I don't mind mentioning their name (Timestamps devs), because those guys are cool, and I'm not saying anything that's not already in their game anyway.
I meant A Wife and Mother. The worst game ever made and that includes the 1982 ET by Atari. Total blueballfest and way too much internal dialogue. Never heard of Timestamps.
