Well, the games I've been playing, that are actually split into parts, they usually do the split once file size reaches around 5GB packaged.

I'm not saying all devs split at that size. I have played others with an 11GB plus archive size for a Ren'py game.
some do split it earlier, but even that is not always because of the size but because they are splitting the story itself into seasons for example, and in that case it make sense to make a new executable etc, esp if they are selling it by season on steam. But to say they "usually" do it at ~5gb because of the size is just not true. I have over a 100 installed at any given time, many are in 7-15 gb range

Pfff so many options:

1) chapters, grouped together seasons...
2) new story
3) file size
4) new year, new season ?

just see no more money, that is one story in 3 seasons or so....
Uh......, so your point is?

All I was saying to the original poster was it probably wouldn't be standalone in terms of the story cause season 1 MC's story was not finished hence season 2 would be direct continuation as Reywyn put in his reply to you.
Wasn't referring to the file size aspect of it.

Plus, I never said devs can't/don't make multiple seasons with their games; my initial comment was based on assumption strictly relating to the story.
