Ive done all that so far, its the distraction that keeps failing, i set the fire but i keep getting told i failed to save her, i see no timer or run option to click, all i have is a white bar appear in the centre of the screen, ive tried clicking it but game just ends every time

I was stuck in the same point, but after you set the fire and you see that white rectangle in the middle of the page, you will also see a text beneath it, in dark red, that says "QUICKLY RUN". Press that one and you will escape.
