There isn't an UI translation coming. The techy stuff is beyond me and it was complex enough to get the script in and out.

If you know how, I'd welcome an update to translate it. If you do please drop it on the original post too.

That and the lack of word wrapping should be the only problems worth worrying about outside of maybe a few things little things.
Sorry to bother you, but if you don't mind me asking, what's the font for the fan translation? I want to know so I can download it and get the text visible for me. I'm on a Mac Mini and I'm using this: to run the game. It's discontinued but still works well enough for me. If I know the font I think I can get it into the Whisky I'm using on my computer and get the text visible.

Sorry, but short answer: Don't know. The default font worked well enough so I never looked into it.

how do you run this game? the advHD.exe won't do anything.
If you bought it from DLSite instead of downloading it here, then I think you have to start it from startup.exe the first time to put in the license key, then either that or AdvHD.exe works. I'm guessing you got it here instead?

If you're trying to run it on a Steam Deck or Linux, I think some people have talked about needing to do something or use certain settings with Proton to get it working. I can't afford to pick up a Steam Deck so I can't test it to document the steps.

Other than that, it should run by opening AdvHD.exe assuming you've got an activated download copy or are using the DVD version.

Thanks for this great translation! Will you be doing any more?
I posted the below on the original thread but I have done a little around but I hit a wall based on the technical factors. Looking at some previous threads, it seems this is difficult. I'm not really good with the computer stuff, so I don't understand it too well. This is the only one I really made any progress with.

I didn't mention before but I did have a look into but while I could extract the script, I couldn't figure out how to repack them into compatible .war files.

I did try to register on Fuwanovel at one point to ask if anyone knew how to deal with either of these, but I couldn't get through the registration process for some reason.

I've not looked into it enough, but I'm somewhat interested in and but these are too new and I've not read them yet. I don't think NekoNyan or anyone will localize them but I do want to avoid anything too new where we've had official localizations from the company before.

Outside of ensemble, just spitballing here, but I'd love to look at some really old stuff both in genre like the (MangaGamer are never going to do these :ROFLMAO:) or something like or , but the technical side is almost always the hurdle, even before the huge translation effort.

////////////////////////////////////////////

I gave Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas a shot, but I hit a wall because the text extraction and insertion tools aren't fully working unless I'm missing something. On top of that, having to manually add all the line breaks would be a huge amount of work if it works. Some of the Japanese was more difficult than expected too, so with that and the technical side I stepped away. If anyone wants to give it a try, the WSC_Tool in the FuckGalEngine AdvHD toolset is a start point it took me an age to find.

Beyond that, I spent long enough on this that it's now time to catch up on the visual novels I missed. I have a few of the other ensemble and ensemble sweet games and I'm thinking of picking up another next time they go on sale so maybe one will catch my attention and you'll hear from me in a few years.

Hi, I'm the author of the Ws2Explorer tool that was linked by someone in your original thread. Since then, I have added support for the old WillPlus engine that uses WSC scripts. The GUI tool can extract and insert text, edit images, insert line breaks, and perform lots of other technical operations for both the old and new engine.

Just wanted to put this out there in case someone wants to pick it up because I know people have been waiting for Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas to be translated for a long time and I don't want the bottleneck to be the technical side.

Anyway, thanks for the awesome translation!

Hi. Thank you for your hard work. Those of you who create and release the tools don't get anywhere near enough credit for your part in making this all possible.

That said, I should now apologize to someone else who was working hard on a solution for not checking this site and seeing it had been done! They have a solution that seems to work (amending an existing tool) but in their own words they "don't know what they're doing", "barely know anything about coding", and they're "not sure if the game crashing issues are solved".

With that in mind, I downloaded the tool to test it out, but is there an idiots guide? I can see the hex editor view but not how to extract or reinsert. I'm not too technical, so looking at Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas so far was a case of being told 'stick all these in a folder, open cmd and copy/paste these lines while amending the filename or click to run this batch file which'll extract / reinsert everything'.

If it's too much trouble, no need to respond. I've been very open that this is something that maybe I'll look at in the future but I hope that someone else might pick it up in the meantime. If anyone knows anyone that wants to translate this, please let them know the technical hurdles are being lowered.

Just as a bonus, this was shared with me just to show that reinserting text and getting choices working is possible. The translation isn't authentic and was just used as test data.

No translation ongoing for Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas I know but massive thanks to all of those trying to get the technical problems out of the way. Been wanting to read this for years and the posts about it and the video are a glimmer of hope.

The most straightforward way to edit the text is to navigate to the Rio.arc where the scripts are stored, double click it to view the WSC scripts inside, select the script you want to edit, and select the Edit > Edit WS2/WSC Text option.
This will open a text editor (which can be configured in File > Set Editors. e.g. I have my program set to C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe and arguments set to -multiInst -nosession). When you save the file and close the text editor, the text will be modified. Character names are not modified so don't bother editing here.

This will get you started but a more efficient workflow might be to extract all the files at once by selecting Rio.arc, selecting File > Recursive Extract, and choosing a destination for the extracted files. You'll see a bunch of text.json files extracted.
After editing one, rename the file to new_text.json. In the GUI, navigate to the WSC script and double click it to view inside. Then drag and drop your new_text.json into the file list panel. The text will be updated.

Some other useful features are editing character names, editing images, and generating a flowchart for the scripts.
- To edit the character names, navigate to the game folder and select Game > Edit Names.
- To edit images, navigate to the image and select Edit > Edit in Application. This will open an image editor and the image will be modified when you save and close the editor. Images are stored in the .arc files. Some images are inside .wip/.pna files inside the .arc file.
- To generate a flowchart, navigate to the game folder and select Game > Show Mermaid Flowchart, and then paste the output into . This will show the sequence of scripts and where they branch.

Thanks for the thorough explanation. The main part which tripped me up was that I was navigating to the individual .wsc files which had already been extracted and it wasn't allowing me to edit those. Editing files within the rio.arc file, there have been no problems. It all seems to work great with Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas and Boku no Suki na Hito no Suki na Hito wa, Josou Shita Boku Deshita which I quickly tried it on too.

Those Edit Names and Mermaid Flowchart are really useful.
