This dev’s making the same mistake as that other infamous dev juggling two stories at once, aka: “He’s a perfectionist, let him cook.” Spending time and effort on details (like the new phone or the UI, for example) that add a tiny bit of immersion at best, but not much else. In my opinion, those tweaks should come after the story’s finished (for a more polished product) or at least when there’s enough story to keep your audience hooked. Add to that a new plot that wipes out the old one and forces you to start from scratch… yeah, that’s a hard NO.
It’s like having a gorgeous car in your garage that you keep polishing and adding superficial stuff to, but it’s got no engine—it’s just sitting there, all shiny and pretty, going nowhere.
