Yea, it's sad that most devs boil down romance to "I convinced her to have sex with me by being nice." If they even add something like that at all. Hopefully, games like this one will become more frequent, but I have a feeling that this is the exception not the rule.
I've found after reading/playing and reviewing lots of these erotic themed visual novels/games, that there are lots of folks out there that think adult visual novels/games means they should be all about sex, in all it's forms, and nothing else, therefore the characters should all be super hot models etc... Overall though, I don't believe it's the majority that thinks that, it's just that the majority doesn't speak up about it that often, and so all you hear from a majority of the time are the immature crowd of readers/players that just want porn... They don't get that Novel (a fictitious prose narrative of book length, typically representing characters and actions with some degree of realism) is in the words Visual Novel, which means it should be a lengthy story with visuals to support the story, not back to back porn scenes with very little in the way of story...
I find that the most popular and best erotic/adult visual novels/games out there tend to be the more mature and story driven visual novels/games with a good balance of deep and meaningful story/script as well as the erotic visuals... Porn stuff is a dime a dozen, and there is so much actual porn, both live action and animated, on the web these days that I don't need to read a visual novel or play a story driven adult game in order to get a porn fix... And I hate it when I read a VN/Game that hyper focuses on the sex scenes without any meaningful story... When I see/read those porn style VN/games, I know flat out that it isn't made for anything else other then to make a quick buck, not actually to make an artistic and entertaining piece of work, that stands out from the crowd of porn content already strewn across the web...
