Piracy can be advertisement. Most people who pirate were either never going to buy the product, or can be convinced to buy and/or support through having free access. I think GBPatch even somewhat understands this, as their previous game has the main game free on Steam, with purchasable expansions. Some people won't buy until they try. Others will never buy, but they will be your word of mouth, and word of mouth is powerful.

The main game is also gonna be free, same as the 1st game.

There's not much of a change when asked directly but it'd feel pretty bad if she came and directly said not to post the beta builds anymore and I just go "NUH UH I'M DOING IT ANYWAY", you know? That'd be twice I'm going against her wishes.
On one hand, a lot of why I post it is because not everyone can afford to pay the 10 a month for the access to the monthly beta. On the other hand, GB isn't like a greedy dev paywalling features of the game behind different tiers etc etc, and she does work hard on this game, and it's brought me a lot of comfort and happiness.

If it makes you feel any better, I became a patron BECAUSE I played these leaked builds. And I know for sure that a lot of other people probably feel the same. There's a reason that GB is going to make the public Demo builds massive and contain pretty much all of the non-DLC content later this year. These content-filled builds are the greatest advertisement. This game/VN is spectacular enough to benefit from piracy, people who pirate it will probably like it enough to want to support it.

Facts bro, after getting the Beta I had to become a patreon ..., patron? You get what I'm saying. Which is well worth it, especially if the game is great and the company is nice enough which both are true in this case. These Betas are also nice to gauge if it's worth the upcoming wait/price, which I think it is and the Beta confirmed both those and my interest in the game itself. And I thank whoever posted it.

This happened to me with Baldur's Gate 3 among other games. I live in a country where $300 is the minimum monthly wage so of course I pirate most games. But if I like a pirated game too much, I end up buying it. I'm considering paying for the Patreon, but the childhood phase was my least favorite phase even in the first Our Life, so I'm waiting to try out Step 2 if it does get pirated to decide whether I want to commit to a Patreon subscription or not.

Hey! The end of the final Moment is here, plus the first few scenes of the Fall Ended section. After how the last beta left off, this is more forgiving, haha. But forgiveness is a fitting notion. To make things sad again, there's very few fun scenes left with the Step 1 versions of the cast
Also, Shawna updated the engine version the game is running on, so there may or may not be small errors due to that change. This is the first time we're beta testing OL: NF on this more recent version of Ren'Py.
